Anyone willing to discuss tips or tricks (especially tricks) for making your images rank higher in the search. I'm always looking for an angle...

Massim,

Are you being serious?
I don't understand how forum participation relates to search results.

It may be bizarre. But at dreamstime I looked at my stats and find that my earning curve was about the same as my forum post curve. Finally it's extremely bizarre.

I know that all of you work for my psychologist who want me to talk more Tongue

In addition to your approval rating, I'm guessing your DT forum activity influences your search engine ranking. They seem to have a pretty compex algorythm that they tweak constantly. My downloads go in cycles there. I get a couple of weeks of daily downloads and then a couple of weeks of nothing.

(are we still talking about IS?)

I don't see that trend in my stats in DT.  In the past months, my forum activity ranged from 0 to 9 posts, except this month which was my highest activity (because of the MB problem, I posted several msgs, plus a couple in other threads).  Indeed, this peak coincides with my second best match (maybe a BME if sales are good tomorrow), but the months of zero activity had no effect in my sales. And in my BME - March 2007 - I had a average forum activity (my average is 7).

Regards,
Adelaide

It just dawned on me that Forum participation and other ancillary things like rating other peoples images might have an effect on your best match rankings in the search engine. Hmmm... I might give it a shot at IS and see if I can boost my ranking by talking more in the forums. Same for DT... it makes sense because it keeps the "cult" going.

Forum participation doesn't effect your best match search results. How do I know, well basic business logic. Sales would go down if you let an irrelevant variable like that into the equation that doesn't have a legitimate reason for being there.

This doesn't mean that forum participation has no effect on your sales. People tend to look at your portfolio when you post in the forum. That probably leads to some sales. To what extent, I don't know.

If you look at the diamond contributors contributors list you'd find that, mostly, either they don't participate in the forums or they can post some fairly strongly worded complaints. It's the newbies ,wannabees and camp followers that post the woo yays. The same can be said for other sites too.

What I see on how best match work at IS, seem to simply be the downloads/month. I already see one or two pictures whit no download in the first pages, but they were having some 5/5 ratings.

If I'm right?? the ratings have not lost all their importance
