I know, I know ... stupid question. But, I'm asking it anyway...  is there ANY way you can get access to your own images, other than buying them?

What are you trying to do? If you have lost files some of the agencies will allow you to download your images. If all you are wanting to do is influence DL stats then no.

1. But not iS, which is the forum we're in.

2. How could downloading without paying ever "influence download stats"?

Hard drive crash; most images saved; a few not saved; I'm trying to get them back without having to pay for them.

BTW, downloading my images would not make a tiny blip on DL stats at istock. What's wrong with you?

Thanks Sue, I guess I just needed to hear the hard truth once more.

Right on #1.

Some agencies place images in search as most popular. When you have a lot of downloads, you can change that rank. I posted that comment as a general comment, though, and not specific to IS.

It was possible at Panthermedia. I have no images now at Panthermedia. But years ago i lost some images because of a broken hard disk. I was able to download this images from Panthermedia. Not like an regular download. It didn't count like a regular paid download.
Dont know if this ist possible today. But that time Panthermedia was some sort of Cloud storage. Years before Close storage was invented.

I use qHero for uploading images to IS and it has an option to download any of your image. File has original resolution and minimal compression. It includes all filled metadata - title, keywords, etc. I used this possibility few times to upload files with ready metadata to another stocks.

Oh, that's interesting to know. Tx
Is that quite recent? There was a thread over there (which I can't currently find) emphasising that people should back up their data as there would be no way of getting files back from iS, and discussing the merits and demerits of various backup systems.

I think it works since IS have changed its site or slightly later. I use it for about a year.

Is this only for images you uploaded via qHero in the first place, or any image, however uploaded, from your portfolio?

qHero shows only images that you have uploaded with it, even if they were not submitted yet or were rejected. And it allows download them only, not all your portfolio on IS.

You can download your own photos from 123.
The only little issue I noticed was lack of Exif data. Some other agencies will require Exif for their uploads, so you might have to reconstruct it.
Additionally, while the full resolution is preserved, the JPG payload seems lower than the original; they probably compress your photos slightly more.

All you have to do is contact support and explain the situation with the image numbers. They will open up the files for you. They did that for me when I lost a couple files.

So yet again, what they officially tell us doesn't match the reality.  ::)
@OP let us know what happens.

You have to request it.

I was able to download my images at iStock. I sent an email asking them to give me access, and they gave me several days (forgot the specific number of days).
