So, today's the deadline, and as my Christmas gift to myself I'm requesting they close my account. No reason to wait and see my royalties drop or to wonder whether they'll try to steal my sales from other sitesthose are givens.

When a door closes a window opens. Let's hope it's a very small door and a very large window.

Good decision. I asked them to close my account a few days ago. Greedy iStock/Getty lost me and my portfolio(5000+ images and 2000+ videos). Merry Christmas  :)

Merry Christmas to you!

I deleted my images a year or two ago but I wanted to totally close my account. Asked the first week of November, finally got done, after several back and forths, yesterday. Merry Christmas to me.  :)

Wishing you the best even if I'm hanging on to watch iStock implode from the inside view. And you are right to look forward to new windows and doors opening by leave broken or jammed ones  behind.

We've seen this before with IS and Getty doesn't seem to care anything about us. I can't see much of a future with them.

This is a classic example of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, hoping it will make a difference. Too late for that. From the top agency to people jumping ship and the feeling it's a positive change for the future.

Safe landing everybody.

Looks like my account is still open after I requested them to close it on 23rd November.  The support ticket was there but I can't see it now.  Sent them an email this time, I really want to be rid of them before 2017.

I gave this gift to myself in January '14, never looked back, never regretted. After that period I can confirm it was a good decision, less worries, less annoyed...

They still haven't closed my account.  Looks like they are counting the time from when I emailed them, not when I sent a support ticket five weeks earlier.  So anyone wanting to leave is probably better off emailing than sending a support ticket.  At least with an email you have a record of it, the support ticket vanished.

I took a screen shot of my support ticket so I have a record of it. I see no reason why they shouldn't pay me 100% of any licensing fees my work makes if they still have it on their site more than 30 days after a written request to close my account, since they no longer have my permission to license the work except in the rare cases outlined in their TOS.

I took a screen shot too, they should pay 100% if images are selling after 30 days but this is Getty, so I don't think that's going to happen.  Sean Locke found the best way to leave quickly, I should of tried that :)

They finally closed my account today after I gave notice on 23rd November.  They take 90 days to remove images from partner sites.

closed my account last week after they begged me to stay, screw them, it's truly over for them as the outrage over the last scam they pulled is boiling over now.

well last year I deleted already all my newer images but I decided now to close my account. It's simply too much and nobody knows what comes next.

I tried today to open a support ticket but nothing happens. I tried it with firefox and chrome --- nothing... anyone else the same experience or an idea how I suceed in closing my account?

thanks

I sent an email to [email protected]
Tell them you have been trying through support tickets and it might speed things up.

Put this down for Microstock trends in 2017.  ;D Artists flee the sinking iStock ship before it goes under.

I just got my 1099 and had a better year than last.  Thought I'd be down about 10% but looks like I'm up close to that.

If I remember you are an exclusive? Nice work and you earned that. I know this goes against us independents, but I think you deserve the raise for being loyal and having images only on IS and Getty. You are on Getty too, right?

Meanwhile the rest of us are kept in the dark, cut, sliced, diced, chopped, have product removed with new rules, and sure, we're losing earnings. We can't get images onto Getty. Not sure that's a good or bad thing?  :)

Just got my 1099 in the mail today from Getty. I made 10% less. Hardly a big drop when others seem to be worse off than I am. Now lets see how the news and exciting changes are for 2017 including the 2c commissions that might be happening?

Going to be an interesting time in the next two weeks when Getty starts reporting all that Dec. data and we start getting the new 15% of a slice of the total subscription. I'd hope for the best, but somehow I think it's going to be worse than ever.
