Not sure if it is related to the turmoil and discontent going on right nowthere but I have been going through a lean spell to say the least these last few days since the anoucement

Someone reported a new best match shuffle? more than the usual ebb and flow for me been the worst spell since I joined and as the Summer comes to an end thought things should be picking up

How are you Guys doing?

Mine have been lousy for four or five days. I don't put too much weight on it, because they haven't been better than average anywhere else.

I think there is a lot of buzzing going on around all this still, and some people may be distracted from their projects.   Aside from that, Tuesday the 7th was well above average, Wed, Thus below average, Friday above average, Sat/Sun a few D/L, but that is actually better than most of last month, and then I haven't had a single sale today, though I typically see a decent jump overnight/early morning.

Too soon to tell really, Ebb, Flow, best match and all that.

Mine are slowly increasing, as indeed they are everwhere else. The 'summer slump' appears to be coming to an end.

It'll probably take weeks or months for any sales fall-out to become evident at Istock. New accounts would need to be opened and credit packages used up. It's not going to happen overnight.

Unrelated but one thing I have noticed is ever-increasing PPD sales at SS. At the beginning of the year they were about 25% of total SS earnings but they have been slowly creeping up each month and for September are now at 34%.

The other day I found one of my images on own-brand food packaging at Tesco's, the UK's biggest supermarket. The only EL I had sold recently was at SS in May. From previous images-in-action I'm pretty sure that Tesco used to buy from Istock but it appears they may have switched to SS.

Sales right now are not what I was expecting.   I had a pretty good summer and I had high expectations for September.  But at this speed, I will have to lower my expectations.

I've had nothing but a smattering of xsmall DLs since this fiasco started.
And August had been a BME for me.

I suspect that buyers are starting to look elsewhere for product.

My what?  What is this "DL" thing of which you speak?   ;)  ::)

I can sum it up in one word:  "Lousy."

That would make sense, but it seems like many would still have credits on iStock, so you can't really expect to see an immediate drop like that unless buyers are abandoning the money they paid for credits.  I really doubt that is happening.

Is the gap between iS and SS widening in the side-bar on the right? I'm not sure what it means but I thought iS was scoring more than 5 a day or two ago.

The day of the announcement and 2 following days sales were extremely slow at Istock, but pretty good elsewhere, especially Fotolia.  I guess Istock buyers were too busy reading the forum posts ...  Now Istock sales seem to be back to normal.
And yes, I also notice that PPD sales at Shutterstock are steadily increasing.

My IS sales seem to be slow.  Tuesday and Wednesday last week were good.  Better than I had seen since May, when summer slump started.  But Thursday thought today I appear to be back at summer levels again :(

Sales elsewhere picking up though.  Particularly Fotolia and DT.

Same here. I even got an EL yesterday.

I'll admit I'm a small contributor and not a good indication, but one more download and Sept. will pass August's total, including the PP sales. I'd say there's no change on IS for me.

SS moving along as usual, nothing dramatic or changing.

What is it, the 12th and they only announced last week. I don't think we'd see a dramatic change or anything noticeable for a few weeks, if at all. Buyers have credits and subscriptions and will need to spend that before they can make any change, if they do.

With the exclusive content, CV and a good selection I don't know if buyers will care about what we are getting paid, any more than people will stop eating lettuce because it's picked by temp. workers from South of the border. Some people will never go to a Walmart, but their business isn't in trouble because of that. Some folks will boycott BP, but they also have to avoid CITGO and I'm sure there's a point where you have to buy gas for the car. :)

Wait until next month and see what happens. This isn't going to change in one week.

Sales at IS in September are already better than in either June, July or August. If the rest of the month continues at the same pace it will be the best month of the year.

Last week was one of my best ever without an EL, the buyers leaving IS (if it's happening) won't stop buying while they have credits so no change should be felt yet.

Good to hear that Sales are picking up for some!

Something i am noticing over at Shutterstock for me is a big leap with On demand Sales not sure if it is related to the iStock developments with Buyers looking elsewhere but the last few days they have increased significantly

Exactly my thoughts. I defintely will not refer people anymore to iStock although I still think they have the best search by far and a very good selection. I am not really sure that buyers will care about our royalty. Some maybe, but the very majority not, I mean if they even would 99% probably have no clue what royalty we get. Wait a year and most contributors have resigned to their fate will continue uploading and their will be no really loss for Getty, no Getty will have more in their pockets. Sad but I think that will be the result and thats why the iStock HQ is so determined to not buldge, because they know they can get through with it.

Pretty good actually considering the turmoil. Cant complain.  Yes,  FT, SS and DT, are all way up with SS given 7 ELs in one week.

Buyers will care if they can't find what they are looking for on istock.  They also care about having future supply of new images, that's why some don't use microstock, thinking contributors wont be able to earn enough.  This could be the straw that breaks the camels back, it feels different to other times sites have cut commissions.  I have never seen so many posts here and in the istock forum.  The next few months are going to be interesting.

I emailed a person at an industry association and asked that they consider reviewing the policy of istockphoto, since they use a lot of photos from IS. In essence, the answer was similar to the bolded words above. Buyers, especially big buyers, are going to stay out of the politics for the most part, especially if they have a sweet deal with IS for their photos (my commentary, that was not in their answer). They will review what's happening, and if they feel the need to make a change, they will. At least my emailing them put them in touch with what has happened.
