Title: Is "downloads today" number working for you?
Post by: scrappinstacy on September 18, 2007, 11:24
Although I've had several downloads today on IS, the downloads today number still shows 0.  The money is adding to the account balance.  Is anyone else having this problem?

It's been like that for several days now.

Had you checked the sticky at the top of the main forum you could have read the pitiful reason as to why!

I am pretty surprised that iStock is having this kind of technical problems. It isn't such a big deal since the sales are still coming but considering they get 80% of money from our sale you would think that could afford some good servers.

I am curious how much iStock will grow. I think they will get up to 10million pictures and then they will get VERY selective.

mySQL is awesome database software that nearly everyone uses, except very large companies. Large companies use Oracle or MS SQL because it doesn't have the scaling problems that you run into with mySQL.

Basically iStock is running into the same Friendster did a while back. Read about it here: http://socialsoftware.weblogsinc.com/2003/10/24/why-friendster-is-so-slow-one-of-our-readers-responds/ (http://socialsoftware.weblogsinc.com/2003/10/24/why-friendster-is-so-slow-one-of-our-readers-responds/)

from what I could find out in one of their endless threads, this is not going to be fixed overnight. Now, they are kind of updating twice per day. Can we trust that the numbers we see are real?

Yes, the numbers you see are real - I've been manually tracking my IS sales data since their system broke down.

Seems to be fixed!  Thank goodness!

Nope, it's still not working - the "Stats" tab still displays static data, although it seems to be updated more regularly.

They're running it twice daily right now. It's like a broken clock, it will be correct twice a day.  ;)
