What has happened over at IS? The queue has exploded to over 30,000! It used to be around 12,000 or 15,000.

Are they doing something special in preparation for the 1 millionth photo?

I have photos that have been in the queue for over 10 days.

I have 100 shots in the queue of 30 000, and only 16 000 needed to hit 1 000 000. Guess that means I have a slight chance!!

So while hold up the queue???

Couldn't they choose a good photo from the last 10 or 15000?

Just noticed I have 2 in the queue. So... mathematically speaking, I still have a (slight) chance.   :D

I read somewhere on the forums that the reviewers have been flooded with submissions as photographers try to hit one million.

They are way too late already...only 15000 more needed and 30000 in the Q! I wonder when the file that wins was submitted. Maybe the photog will tell us.

I just looked on the forums in iStock. It seems that the suspicions that some of us over here are having might be right. The admins claim that "the counter" is wrong. What's the effect? That apparently there won't be a 100% surefire way to track the 1 millionth image so I'm betting it's going to an exclusive photog. Hey, I'm starting a betting thread not on WHEN the millionth image will hit but WHO will get it. Join and place your bets

I'm with kacper... I'm pretty sure they're "choosing" who will the lucky photographer whose photo will be marked 1Mth. They probably wouldn't like a low-impact photo to represent the milestone.

Well, there's new limits in town. Just as the exclusives got a raise, everyone else had to do with lower uploads.

Upload LimitLimit: 25 files per 168 hour period

File(s) Remaining: -13

wow, they are getting ridiculous.  i wonder if they ever start getting enough from their exclusives if they will start to slowly squeeze everyone else out?

Supposedly, they're reducing limits temporarily so they can catch up with their backlog:

New Upload Limits
transferred  Aug 15/06, 17:23
In order to bring down the queue, we have temporarily lowered the upload limits. Please be your own editor and upload wisely.

Default: 20
Bronze: 25
Silver: 30
Gold: 35
Diamond: 50

Exclusive limits remain unchanged.

That just means it will be a little longer befoe I have to go through their pain in the ass upload process. For me, they're 4th place, heading for fifth. Of course, this has a lot to do with the fact that I have less images there than anywhere else. Slowest uploads, highest rejection rate, 4th place in revenue, 7th place in avg. per image.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I'll continue to dribble images up there when they bless me with the privelage, but I'm certainly not giving them the attention I do to DT, SS, and others.

Someone in the forums asks photographers not to upload entire series of shots, just the best. Since I primarily shoot people, I will always have series of shots to upload. My biggest problem is that you can never tell before you upload as to which shots are going to be the most sought after by designers. Usually it really surprises me as to which of the series end up with most downloads and normally I would never have been able to predict this before uploading. Leave me in bit of a pickle really...mind you I am on -50 uploads now so I can't upload for at least a week anyway and with over 400 waiting to upload, gonna take me two months!!

I would be glad if I could upload just a few a week, but if they would be quickly reviewed.  These long queues are irritating.

I'm very divided. On one hand I absolutely HATE iStock for everything they stand for: lowest commission in the industry and ripping off the photographers, the Walmart of microstock, long queue, blatant favoritizm, arrogant admins that don't give a crap, completely useless scout... Reasons to hate iStock are hundreds. There is just one reason I like it, but it is a valid one. Even with the 20% commission, slow growth in portfolio it is STILL the best selling site for me that brings me a solid payout every month.

Sigh... what to do, what to do...

Well, it seems they've found a way to reduce their queue.  They're rejecting everything.  I expected some rejections, but they're rejecting photos that have been accepted, and sold, on other sites.

Puhlease.

They've been kind to me. I had expected massive rejections to shorten the queue, but I've had just a few.

I've had everything accepted the last two weeks. About 15 images. Problem is they were in the queue for two weeks... it's so * slow now. It's like CanStock

I have a few in the queue for about 10 days now, and have been wondering whether I should pull them or not (because of massive rejections to reduce the queue size).

Anyone else have any experiences with acceptances or rejections in the past week or so?

I just had about 30 out of 32 accepted (still got over 60 more in the Q). They rejected a rather fine example of an isolated handshake (I know I know, but if I've paid for models and they are in suits it's stupid not to get that shot...) only for me to find someone had bought an Extended License for it at SS yesterday :) $20 sales are sweet!

From a set of four uploaded twelve days ago, I got one rejected (with a "can resubmit" status) and the others approved; it took 8 days to have them reviewed.  From two uploaded then days ago, one was approved yesterday (the recylced paper rejected by DT and StockXpert!) and the other is still pending.

Adelaide
