As I assume these forums are read by IS admins too I want the ability to rant a bit without the worry that I'm going to be singled out as a troublemaker. Sorry!

Why, what do you think they'll do?  I doubt you'll be singled out for anything around here.

I haven't looked at the iStock ranking chart in a while, but noticed that the most downloads in the past 30 days was 761 by a diamond level non-exclusive contributor. How is that possible?

The charts haven't been working since IS stopped giving out exact dl figures of other peoples portfolios. That figure was probably the amount of dls so far in the month that they stopped.

There was a glitch last week that accidently deleted a heap of dollar bin files that hadn't sold in a month and when the were re-instated they acted as new uploads in as much as they appeared to be getting new ratings - that's probably why those 30 day new upload figures look odd. Otherwise those charts are still working within the limitations of the fuzzyness applied earlier this year.

The only thing you might want to avoid is posting that you did something contrary to the agreements you agreed to with iStockphoto. Other than that you have no need to fear what you post here.

I appreciate there may have been some banned accounts on other agencies due to commentary on third party sites. We don't really mind if you rant elsewhere. As long as we don't have to moderate that kind of thing on our site its fine with us.

We observe and report. If there is something posted here that we can pass on to the PTB we do so. That's about all you can expect in relation to your comments here

It would undermine Leafs community if we caused anyone here trouble for posting their views. Just don't admit to skirting any of the agreements and you will be fine.

I am happy to report I am #1130 on the list. Out of 29266 contributors, that's * good!

I am also VERY happy to report I am ranked 3 above the guy that has the image of the week on IS.

^^ This all seems perfectly reasonable.  In fact a lot more reasonable than the attitude taken by some other sites.

Frankly, beyond advocating the breaking of agreements (as mentioned above) I can't see how a reasonable agency would want to silence discussion on these forums.

Seems to me that comments posted on this site would reveal people's honest impressions much more than any site forums would.  A healthy, forward-thinking agency could benefit from knowing what their contributors really think.

Nothing wrong with "improvising" on an agreement now and then but just as the man says, don't talk about it.

He isn't the one who reanimated the ancient thread. Plus, with very recent happenings involving someone bragging here about violating the terms, and subsequently having their account closed, I think it is probably a concern for one or two people around here, and nothing wrong with clarifying their position on the subject.

By the way, pieman, it might be helpful to contact Leaf about getting one of those "verified" stamps for your account, if you want to be taken as a completely credible source on istock policy. :)

I'm amused not only by the old old thread but the number of black names (people who left) who also posted to it.  ;D

I counted four, and two of the four are still here with new user names.

If you guys noticed, it certainly helps to have your istock username start with A rather than Z :D   - For example, everybody from 10196 to 11772 has 200+ downloads and usernames are all in alphabetical order :)

Interesting change. it runs 1-2-3-4 Etc. then at 10 changes to 10-20-30 Etc. until 100, then by hundreds after that all the way up to 10,000 where it groups by thousands to 100,000 where it groups by closest 10,000 and over. Instead of actual file numbers, it's just a range now, which is just as acceptable.

A few more sales and I move up over 1500 places.  ;D

Go out and shoot something!

3000 a weekend when I'm working which usually yields around 100 or less "good" photos. I figure 1-2% make it through culling, looking for flaws, and picking out the best. That's 30-60 photos. Roughly none will ever see a micro site unless I happen to see something suitable.  ;D I did take one macro shot tonight, which will be going to a nature site.

Nice wrist watches concept shot. That's more than I've owned in my lifetime.

Looking at the survey says something about the people who come here and answered the survey. The top of the pyramid as far as Micro is concerned. Nice work everyone. 101 people out of 126 claim to have 14,000 or more downloads on IS if the survey is accurate. That's just darn amazing! It represents the top 3% of all IS contributors. Fantastic.

Carrying that across all sites, which I'll assume, this site has the top 3% of all Microstock contributors and sellers.
