Wow. That is more than twice mine. Are you exclusive or did you get some really big sales that increased the average? What kind of volume are you selling?

I have never supplied iStock or Depositphotos, but I still suffer because others do.  The agencies do what they do because contributors do not discriminate.

The agencies do what they do because they want to give customers what customers want.

Customers will always be more important than contributors.

The agencies also do what they do because they are far larger than 99.9% of contributors. Individual contributors, on the whole, have no bargaining power.

There might be some cases where special arrangements are made for specific customer types, but agencies generally do not do what they do because customers want it. They do it because they are trying to create strategic advantages over the competition, and the go-to is always cheaper content.  Now, as a customer, I am going to say, "hey, if you want to sell me pics for 3 cents instead of 20 cents, yea, I don't mind at all." But I highly doubt customers are asking for cheaper content in today's micro stock world.  It is merely the agencies trying to attract new business and retain existing business by offering cheaper product - called market share strategies.

Fair points. But now we're on a different level of discussion. Getty is presumably in search of above-average returns by minimising the bargaining power of both suppliers and customers.

NB "Giving customers what they want" is broadly speaking, a more successful strategy than "not giving customers what they want".

Agreed, just trying to level set that customers arent screaming for a pennies discount. That is agency driven.  Onward.

RPD is not an effective measure of this situation.  My RPD is twice what it was, but I am selling 25% of what I did at peak, subs and ODs have been decimated.

I have never supplied iStock or Depositphotos, but I still suffer because others do.  The agencies do what they do because contributors do not discriminate.

I wish sales had only been decimated. Mine are about 50% down and if yours are 75% down I bet you would prefer decimation too.

to sum up-

- people have stopped uploading new files-
- they are surprised that earning are falling down and put the blame to other who still upload and sells more than them

is it right?
so if you were obj..you should have erased your account not hoping to not works anymore and still earning the same.

If you had read the thread you would know I have never had an account there, but it does not mean that I and you are not affected by iStock.

The logical conclusion of your thinking is self annihilation, I will continue to rage against the machine.   The end result may be the same, but I too have myself to think of.
I thought similarly when I refused to supply subs sites.  ::)

Am I missing humor? You are a istcok exclusive so you can't and IS sells sub, has thinkstock and partners that are sub sites?

For the rest, WME worst month ever, worst since first month in 2010, and I've never had a worse month ever on istock. I still upload new. down 500% from last year.

Not humour, irony (note rolling eyes).
I didn't supply the subs sites before I was exclusive, and iS didn't sell subs anywhere back then. If they had, I wouldn't have submitted there either.
Exclusive files don't get mirrored to Thinkstock (though some older ones are still there, if people chose to let them be mirrored, I didn't). I don't know of any partners which are subs sites, maybe you could share that info?

Now they of course sell subs, which is the irony (actually, mega-irony, as having refused to submit images which would sell for 25c, I now have lots of sales for 22c); and I haven't submitted anything there for a while.

How complicated but I got it. You wouldn't sell subs and now iStock does, so your objections and decisions have been reversed by Getty. That is ironic after all your efforts.

Who are the partners and secret agreements and who sells subs. Wouldn't we like to know.

I stopped uploading to IS over a year ago. I know I can probably add an additional 10-20% more to my micro stock income if I uploaded my entire portfolio on there, but I just couldnt bring myself to do it. It would have been a lot of work, but that was never the issue. It was always their unethical practices and mistreatment of contributors.

Non-exclusive. Got a couple bigger sales. But my port is small, fluctuations happen. Usually, I get much lower rpd. This year average rpd for IS is 0.85 for me.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. A few big sales really can boost your rpd if you have a smaller portfolio.
