Title: iStock will remove sales stats per FEB 2017
Post by: John W. on December 14, 2016, 18:01
Got an email from them today stating:

'Your download stats will no longer be available on iStock.com come the February 1 cutover. We will not be porting previous years stats over to the new system so we strongly advise you to download your CSV prior to the cutover on February 1, 2017. '

Why would they do that? Anyway just wanted to share this so people will not loose their sales history.

This could be it for me finally.. I want transparency! I demand it. I hope this is not so at least current stats should be available, not into sneaky tactics

Our new stats will be available on ESP, whatever that is. We'll need ESP to figure out the ways IS is twisting and turning. Cutover?

Everybody download your CSV for previous years now, before they vanish. There's no reason why they can't just leave them up for us, this is just more of how little IS and Getty think of our needs and wishes.

They are changing the term "Copyright " to "Credit Line" on asset details pages?!  Do they think they are going to be able to claim copyright to our work?

Even if they are only implying they control the copyrights to contributors property they are being very deceptive.

There's not much left of my portfolio but I guess I might as well archive what information is there. The thing is, I can't figure out how to download a CSV file of my stats. I couldn't find anything that would allow me to do this on my stats page, nor anywhere else I looked. The FAQ was useless.

Could someone here point me in the right direction?

I usually can understand more than 90% of text on this forum since I'm not a native speaker. But when it comes to exciting letters from Getty/Istock I feel like I'm buying a used car and the sales assistant is using too many complicated words to confuse me intentionally. I guess the question Why all is so complicated on Istock has one simple answer...

Exactly as you say deliberately confusing and only partial information.

I gave them notice to close my account on 23rd November.  Will be great not to have to read their emails.  If we all leave, they will be history but unfortunately it appears that some people have an extremely high pain threshold.

Go to your STATS page and wait patiently till your bar charts appear.  You'll see "DAILY" :  click on it and choose "MONTHLY".
Right above "monthly" you'll see the word GROSS ROYALTIES and (in my case) a box with "X" (like an image that cannot be displayed).
If you hover over that X, you'll see "GET YOUR DAILY STATISTICS IN CSV" :  click on it and wait.  (I know, it says DAILY, but you get Monthly).
You can save each year, divided per month, in an Excel spreadsheet.
(but wait with 2016 until a few days after year end).
If you get an ERROR page, start all over again, as the BACK button doesn't work.

If they gave a f*** they would provide an easy to download csv of sales stats history for each contributor well in advance of the switch over. Doing it manually is a nightmare.

Yes, they should (but they don't, so won't); but even for me (an extremely irregular Excel/spreadsheet user), downloading the csv is extremely easy.

When you know how its straightforward.....if they cared they would retain the data for users. Its not exactly a huge storage issue to keep CSV files.

how will that work since they seem to go back and change the sales totals up to a few months in the past (or maybe a lot more, I haven't bothered really looking at them all that hard since they are so miniscule). More mystery smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that they already took the pea out from under the shell.

Thanks for this information. I tried what you suggested and didn't see the X next to Gross Royalties. It dawned on me that this could be related to my ad blocker on Firefox, so I disabled the ad blocker but that didn't work either. Finally, I tried using Safari and there, at least, I got a question mark, not an X -- but it did allow me to download the file.

I've been having a lot of problems lately with Firefox not showing some elements on web sites. Some of it is related to the ad blocker but in other cases, it seems as though FF simply can't display these items. It's annoying.

As a side note, seeing all the annual royalties at once like this really highlighted the precipitous drop in earnings since the peak in 2010. I knew they were in free-fall but I'd never looked at the yearly stats like this before.

Same here, no X no broken icon in firefox, but works with chrome. I'm collecting my csv for all years, but I'm not sure why?

I have ten years to save....

I have twelve :)

After doing 2015 via the UI, I just edited the URL to change the offset (it's in months, so you add 12 each time) as it was quicker than waiting for the UI to load.

So &Offset=11&royaltyDisplay=monthly becomes &Offset=23, then &Offset=35, &Offset=47 and so on. Edit and press return and the dialog will come up with the new CSV to save

Use this link  http://www.istockphoto.com/user_stats.php?id=1234567&Offset=0&DownloadsGraphFileType= (http://www.istockphoto.com/user_stats.php?id=1234567&Offset=0&DownloadsGraphFileType=)

It will default to 2016, and your user ID, if you are logged in. You can click and save each year, monthly stats back to the first year IS was running. This only works if you have the stats page set to monthly.

With some work you could combine all into one file, but the way it works right now is you get each year, by the month.

But I didn't do it, as I thought I'd wait until the end of Jan. However, I can't actually see the tiny button for the CSV now. Ho-hum.

Still, until they introduced subs, I used to keep weekly stats of my own. Not long after subs started, I went onto monthly subs, so I have rough stats from right since I started. I don't really see that it's really important to have them. For several years I was charting a steady increase, now I'm charting a rapid decrease.
So what? It is what it is.

All my cvs files are incorrectly reflect data because numbers are shown as dates.
Or in wrong positions(moved) in cells.

Whoops, I see that the csv button is visible on my phone, but still not in FF.
The other day, I saw the most ridiculous search results on FF, but that particular search was very 'clean' on IE and Chrome.

Thanks for that. Another question: When I try to open the CSV in Excel 2010 I get a real mess. I cannot seem to adjust the rows and lines to actually interpret the sales information. It's just one big pile of numbers  :P

I left Istock years ago when they got to be very unreliable but kept a few images so I could see where they were going. It looks like that is nowhere. I now want to delete the rest I have. But I don't see how to do this anymore. Anyone can help?
I made a few dollars a month (apposed to the hundreds I did in the golden years) It seems they now even took the few dollars I had. I hope they really let you delete them instead of just deactivate them so they can still do what they want with them..

Email support and ask them to delete and close your whole account. It might take them awhile, but just keep bugging them.

No, if you close your account, they will supposedly pay you. I only had $4 and something in my account and they said payment would be made. Here's what they said about my account on Dec. 23:

"Your account has now been closed as requested and final payment details have been sent to accounting to payout.

Note that, as per the Artist Supply Agreement, it can take up to 90 days for assets to be removed from Partner sites and that partner royalties are reported at the end of the following month. For this reason you may receive payments up to 3 months after account closure. These payments will be made to the payment method you have entered into your iStock account.  If you continue to receive payments after this time, please do contact us."

I can see from your link what I earned in December, and if I'd had any credit sales already in January, they would be there, but I don't see my actual "Account Balance" there.

How do I download my CSV's of previous years? The whole financials page is messed up. No visible balance, no CSV download link, nothing.

Edit: Got 'em. Could they have made it more cumbersome? use an old link, then add 12 to the offset value for each year? Why do old pages have to stop working before the new system is in place?

yadayadayada - thanks your link helped me at least get my stats - you can't see any CSV links in Safari either. But I still can't see what they owe me although I can work backwards from the last payout at least.

I can't wait to get my last $100 and delete my entire account. The last time I made as little there as I did in 2016 is when I joined in 2011 - and that was only the last 6 months of the year and with a handful of images. Certainly not enough to deal with their shenanigans.

it was nice to find out that I wasn't the only one, who had problems with the sales stats... Great, I hoped that IS will be better, but instead they're doing changes on the live site without testing, without any concrete warning...  very unprofessional...
Unfortunately I've had only 54,50$ (after 2 years) so it's a lot until 100$ for me :( but if it stays like this until March 2017 I'll definitely quit. Just wasted time to upload all the images  >:(

it was nice to find out that I wasn't the only one, who had problems with the sales stats... Great, I hoped that IS will be better, but instead they're doing changes on the live site without testing, without any concrete warning...  very unprofessional...

iS have done changes on the live site without testing for year, but this probabyb isn't one of them. They've just disabled statistical features early prior to moving them offsite.
Still, no need to wait until you have $100. If you want to quit right away, you'll get whatever money accrues.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that I would get something under 100$. At the moment I found the Deep Meta from other threads, so it's ok with the stats. Maybe I'll try this tool also to upload some images.
