Title: Istock won't take my editorial. Directs me to getty news instead
Post by: txking on July 17, 2017, 23:10
OK so tried to submit some editorial images I have and get a new rejection reason.

The image appears to depict news, sports or entertainment events or subject matter that is deemed to be timely news and not editorial stock. All newsworthy imagery should be submitted to the proper channels through the Getty Images news desk. Thanks for your understanding.

I'm not setup with getty directly, don't know who this news desk is, or how to submit my images to them. Never had this rejection reason before and I'm not sure what to do at this point.

That rejection has been universal since 'unification'. Also many existing files of that type were deactivated.
A few people have asked over on their forum and been given a link to apply to be a Getty editorial supplier, but I haven't actually read of any who have been successful (which doesn't mean it hasn't happened).

It seems like (speculation on my part) they might have had problems with Getty togs about this sort of content. Even people with official  credentials are getting this rejection.

Also note that any exclusive iS editorials which have actually been mirrored over to Getty have been relabelled as 'unreleased creative' rather than editorial, further fuelling the above speculation.

I've had the same problem.

Normal editorial shots get accepted, but a time sensitive event got me the same rejection and directed me to Getty. I figured that by the time I had messed about trying to get them approved they would no longer be 'of the moment' anyway.

Figured it wasn't worth the hassle and other sites, (that approved within hours), could sell them instead.

That's kind of my issue. Most all my images are "time sensitive" concerts, sporting events, political marches and stuff. What I've found though is many still have shelf lifewell after the timely news period. He'll I have editorials of a sporting event I still seel regularly, it's been 4 years since the event and it was nothing major.
