iStockphoto has once again failed
Photostocker:
Hi!
I have done iStock since 2009. I have more 10 000 images online. I've spent a lot of time for keywording and what I saw now. They have lost 20-40 keywords of six thousand images.
I think this happen because they updated their keywording engine. I am very angry because my income has drop like few thousands.
This was the worst one. There were 50 keywords but now 4.
Really iStock!!!!!!! How much we have to suffer this?

Yup, I've been complaining about it for ages.
As always with Getty, complaining does no good. All you can do (should you wish to) is go through their system and fill in a spreadsheet for all the files with missing keywords, listing them all.
But wait! It's not even that 'easy', because sometimes you can't actually 'see' the keyword on the file page, but it's hidden but searchable. So you have to search on the keyword before you fill in the spreadsheet, in case that's the case. Better still, sometimes it's searchable in my own port, but not sitewide.
I can tell you from bitter experience that nothing other than filling in the spreadsheet has any effect unless literally only a couple of files are affected. Otherwise you are likely to get a cut and paste reply to a ticket saying either/or:
1. Keywords are still searchable even if not visible (truth is: sometimes)
2. iStock/Getty has not cut keywords from your file
3. Search does not look at keywords in the title, they have to be in the keywords field (which I've known since 2007) ...
...and when I sent screenshots of DM2 to prove the keywords were on the file when uploaded (sadly, lost DM2 on a recent computer upgrade, a bitter blow in several ways), I was told there was no point in sending DM2 screenshots (to my mind, the point was proving them wrong, in the vain hope they might 'look into it') I just had to fill in the spreadsheet.
To be fair, Team Keywords (who are about the only decent people in that establisment IME) were very fast in reinstating them.
NB: although most of my missing keywords were not in the CV, which is presumably why they've been 'disappeared', about 20% of the ones I found were in the CV, at least at the time I uploaded. Also some common keywords were disappeared from some of my files, but not others.
It took hours for me to do the first 80+ and I haven't felt up to doing more, but as the missing keywords are normally the most important for the file (e.g. species and/or location), as I'm keeping my old port there, I guess I should do it some time.

Actually, I think that "2015 horizontal photography" might be one of the most common search terms ever.
changingsky:
It is the same scenario - they remove exact keyword, leaving only common terms. I left IS after many cases when a name of the food was removed but keyword "food" they left online. I had no answers from them. Of course competing files with intact keywords had more chances to be sold. Who i have to be for them to have my files not edited?

Hmmm - I can find 3.210.759 images on istock searching - 2015 horizontal nobody.
Not easy to get with these keywords at the first page.
Is there a chance to reload the original keywords ? Just curious. Mine keywords are not distorted yet - but who knows what happens tomorrow at istock.
