Nah, just kidding  ;D

.....ok, I admit it, the situation is going beyond ridiculous. I'm curious about the cause tho. Does this go back to when Bruce once mentioned he could not afford to invest the money required to update the site and hence sold out?

Yeah but Getty could afford to and they've had it quite a while.

Maybe they could sell it back to Bruce so he could fix it?  ;D

I don`t think that I have ever seen a site with more bugs... Not an isolated event either, constant issues... day after day, week after week, year after year, endless stream of fups.

I've tried to request a payout twice today with the result of a database error. Both times the money was withdrawn from my account and added back a bit later. I created a support ticket, but will try requesting my payout again tomorrow.

Still not working. I'm shocked. I'd have thought once those clever Istock programmers came back from their long weekend, then finished reading their magazine, had a coffee and then nipped out for lunch __ they'd have fixed the site in a jiffy! Just like they usually do. Not.

I had the same problem this morning, also emailed a support ticket.

And how much of our commissions are we paying these people for their incompetence?   >:(  >:(  >:(

That's backwards, Karin.  They're the sales people.  What they get is a commission for making the sale; we get (or are supposed to get) royalties.

When I saw the title of this thread I wondered if my calendar was wrong and it's actually April Fool's Day.

istock likes to think that they're still #1 in microstock. I think they're right, although not for the same reason they like to think.

Maybe there's a new company slogan in this somewhere. "istockphoto - still #1 in site bugginess."

That's when the site will be fixed and running smoothly :)

Well, it is working perfectly...for them. What a benefit that it is not crediting contributors for sales. 100% of the sale in their pockets!

Now, how long has this problem been on  already? Has IS given any explanation?

Are buyers having any type of problem with the site as well?

Do the forums get translated into the iStock 'community languages'?

People whose English is shaky post their concerns about the current issues and get nippy replies (from mods, admins or fellow plebs) that they should have read the bugs thread.
I've got a Higher French,FWIW (means I did it for five years at high school and passed the exam) and I wouldn't have a clue where to begin with the bug thread OP if it was written in French, so how reasonable is it to expect others to read it in English?

Lobo needs to know how difficult it is for people whose native language isn't English to pick up sarcasm, e.g. his pointless ' empty sorry' post, followed by 'see - that didn't help', or his 'please be civil' when he himself doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word. He should also know the true meaning of sorry, rooted in metanoia, a total turnaround, a striving not to be in that situation in future. Not just an empty word.

When serious problems like this arise, all contributers should be sent an email, in the appropriate community language they have selected. Yes it costs money. Better in future to spend the money proactively on a better IT team/software/superviser (delete as appropriate).

How is this even possible? New bugs are introduced regularly without old ones getting fixed.

IS carries many signs of a dying company; falling sales, low commissions, inability to correct problems, sinking ability to understand the needs of contributors as well as clients (yes, I know a few who have changed to other agencies lately). Me thinks it's a problem of attitude. Short term profit has become more important than long term solutions. Hopefully they'll get over these things, but they need to stop acting as if they live in a bubble... or maybe they are living in a bubble   ???

I agree with jbarber!  That's a great one Suljo.  It reminds me of the line from the film 'Grease' where someone says 'they're lower than fleas, they're amoebas on fleas'.   But your version is funnier :D
