Good month for me, better than June. Surprised actually, because those content statistics weren't looking good.

Best month since Oct 2016; hopefully OK, as it's mostly due to four good value sales.
Best July since 2012.

I would say that is a refund of the yellow bar from the previous month, exact same size!

Rather good for this miserable times. And almost 4x more than SS!. Incredible.
Something strange is happening, after years of a leadership Shutterstock is dying for me and IS and Pond are competing for the first place.

We should be using proper iStock terminology here... don't call it a refund, call it Exciting News!

Definitely trending in the right direction for me too. In my case it's IS and AS who are making up the slack and then some for Shutterstocks freefall. I know there are many people who believe the problem with SS right now is primarily image saturation, but I think it goes much deeper than that. All of the major microstock agencies are saturated, yet for me none have taken a nosedive quite like like SS has. My feeling is that more than anything else buyers are simply shifting away from SS for a whole host of reasons.

I haven't looked at sites in detail but I think SS is by far the most aggressive in seeking new contributors. I am seeing some improvement in the "next" tier sies...but for me the main hit is in the smaller ones which appear to be plummeting.

Happy, considering that i started from 0 in may 2017. for me IS is the best. $ = double what i did on SS. Almost triple $ of what I did on AS. If I combine all my income from the sites I contribute to, I have just paid back the purchase of my G85. Not bad at all for the little amateur that I am!

Someone will certainly ask me the question: What are you doing with all the time you have spent on this? Well, the time to learn Lightroom, Photoshop in addition to the photo missions to get used to my camera, to put into practice what I learned in my classes = for me, a total enrichment !.

I had three video sales, one for 60 cents, one for 6 dollars and one for 93 dollars, for a really old hd clip.

Hm.

Photo sales like always.

Should I consider uploading older, unsold videos?

Do I need to repeat that I started from scratch? what does your comment add to the conversation? Nothing ... zero, niet, nada. You seem to have a lot of time, you should take some pictures or just get some fresh air and put some positivism in your (too many) post.  ;D

I am very happy with this $ 1200 (and not $ 800)

The same could be said of many other micros as well. Take the SS $1.50 streaming video commission for example. I'm certainly not defending IS, but at this point I will take any revenue stream available. That's how bad things have become.

I have closed quite a few accounts over the years "in protest" or just because the agencies just didn't deliver.  But at this point the microstock biz is done for contributors. While the industry may be fruitful for the agencies themselves, the losers are the suppliers.  So I am letting my stuff ride and will take every last cent I can.  However, and I've been honest about this before, I am not shooting for microstock any more.  Not doing any studio "stock" work for them and just not putting any time into building a broader portfolio. Basically, I am winding down. I make more money shooting dildo sanitizers for a client than I do in microstock.

Congrats ... indeed, you are doing a lot of things right! Love that term "total enrichment" ... that's exactly the way I feel too and I've been with istockphoto since 2002.

I think you are underlining what most of us " old" members are doing, just letting the portfolios ride along and no more uploading to microstock which is a pointless excersise!
I only upload RM nowadays fair enough they might not seel often but when is does, at least in my case its good prices and thats something!

Forgive me for repeating a question that I am sure has been asked, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

So I am a new amateur stock photographer who began in august.

On the 19th of september I finally received info that I have 6 sales for August.  However, when I look at my profile and 'downloads year to date' it says I have 28.  Is this because I have 6 sales in August and 24 more in September?

Or is this because sales don't equal downloads?

Or is there another reason?

Further, and to make things even more perplexing, when I click on royalties it gives the message "Royalties data will not be available until your first transaction has occurred. Please try again next month."

Why is this the notification if my sales now show up as 6 and my downloads are 28?  How do I have no transactions?

Any clarity would be much appreciated.

thanks!

chris
