Dunno. I hardly ever look at it. Checking it now, I see a pretty good mix of high recent sellers at the top, some new, some old in the middle.

I'm not sure if this is part of the April Fools thing (someone in a forum post alluded to that). But it certainly seems to be switching around. A sort by best match this morning brought my oldest file to the front -- and a refresh brings it to something else -- switch to "by age" and it resorts correctly -- but every switch to best match or a refresh is changing it back and forth, with every second or third refresh bringing the old one to the front. I'm afraid to bring it up in the forums. If it is an April Fools thing, I would wonder of the effect on search results for buyers (not necessarily for me, I'm a low producer, but for big sellers).

No, it's not an April Fool's prank. I can't imagine them crippling their own sales and turning off customers just for a few laughs. My guess is they are just testing some things out. I see my sort is already back to "normal" again.

Sales have been much better there since mid winter. I'm really looking forward to full implementation of the new best match idea. Their treatment of keyword relevance based on searches converted into purchases is absolutely brilliant. Other agencies should consider the same.

Due to all the exclusive contributors (90%+ of the Top 100 are exclusive if I remember) the standards at IS are exremely high. You need to be producing images that are amongst the best in their subject for them to be successful ... but if you do then the rewards can be very worthwhile.

Let's be honest, IStock is barely and I mean barely holding on to the #1 slot for microstock sites. They are so desperate, have you seen their new advertising campaign, they are literally grasping at straws. They are throwing their garbage ads everywhere, even my Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) forums, Sherdog.net, and god knows everywhere else, it's sad really...... That's why their CEO quit, he knows they can't hold ground to the better sites (ie. Fotolia, ShutterStock, Dreamstime, etc.). The only chance you have there is to be an early contributor (Lise Gagne.. et all). Take it from my, their over inflated prices will be their downfall... watch and see.........

I do what I can... I feel that people-shots are the "secret", wich I don´t have much of unfortunately. Also, I´m a little young in this business as well, since pictures need to mature a bit in searches it seems. time will tell.

Your stuff is truly one of a kind!! vivid colors, depth and composition. Let´s hold our thumbs for the future Wink

Over inflated? This is microstock we are talking about. Given the high quality images many are producing, I'd say iStock images are still underpriced relative to their worth. At least they are pushing prices in the right direction, unlike some competitors.

I started in 2007, well after Lise Gagne and I'm soon to hit gold. iStock has been a great income earner for me, though sales slowed between October and Feb, things have been picking up. iStock has continued to make decisions that keep them ahead of the game, and they continue to evolve. iStock will be around for a very long time, your statement is basically speculative, inaccurate and insubstantial.

I agree with Stacey. People were saying that about being too late to the party back in 2005 when I started.

I guess the people who listened to the negativity have not done well, but the ones who ignored it and worked hard have seen it pay off. That will hold true across most aspects of life IMO.
