Title: Payment from iStock/Getty images without downloads
Post by: kaidax on September 24, 2015, 03:11
Hi guys, so this morning i woke up to see Getty images have put $0.84 in my paypal account, however i haven't sold any images yet on iStock or even had any views, i only have around 9 photos on there and been on for 2 weeks.  Anyone know what this payments for?

Hi, it is strange because the minimum payout in iStock is 100$, and moreover they pay after 1 month, so it is impossible if you registered 2 weeks ago.
Maybe they tried if your Paypal account is valid by charging 0.84$ and then refunding you.

Hmm it is very strange for those reasons, they haven't taken it back yet, i have requested a support card so they should get back to me in a couple of days, perhaps it is just a mistake!

You wrote that you closed your account in iStock, so you received the payment for what you had earned before you left.

For sure this is the payment for your "first registration".
iStock site is not so straightforward and easy to use. Only the regular sales are registered in real time, and they are very rare (at least for me). All the subscription sales and the sales you make through the partner program are counted the month after: simply you cannot know "in real time" if you are selling pictures.

Microstock is generally only for patient guys  :P

Well, here is the answer: You closed your account. At this stage, iStock pays out the amount that is in your account.

While you mention you didn't have any downloads, you are probably mistaken: The payment made now is what was in your account on August 31st. And that includes the partner program and subscription downloads in July. 84 Cents would be exactly three downloads valued 28 cents each.

So that is what you are paid for and why you received this exceptional low amount.
