Are sales on Istock suddenly out of whack? My portfolio amazingly does the same sales every day (except weekends), give or take ten dollars. In the last few days its seen a HUGE downturn.

Anyone else seeing this problem or is it just me?

Also, why are people not social in elevators? When you have 8 people in a six square foot radius, its a perfect time to get to know someone, but everyone just sits silent and awkward.

An answer to either of these questions would be wonderful.

They are standing too close for strangers.

I think they must be doing something with the servers, probably prepearing them for the subscription plan. A few of my images have been accepted 2.5 days ago and they still didn't appear in my portfolio. Many people are reporting this on the forums.

since the begging of the month I've had  a significant drop in my sales  I don't know if it's a general trend or not.

I am seeing a strong downturn in sales at IS

As for strangers in lifts, just talk to you imaginary friend

I've noticed a big drop in sales, too. The que is super slow, too - I've got an image that I submitted May 3rd, and it's still waiting.

I think people don't talk much in elevators because you're together such a short time that there's no point in starting a conversation.

As I can read in forums, almost on every biggest agency there is a drop in earnings: at least on FT, SS, IS. Only DT is more or less stable.

Maybe it is a sign of universal Microcalypse?..
Or it is on Earth planet only?..
New world order...
Big Brother...
Animal Farm...
No conversations in elevators...

Not to turn this into a "woe is us" microstock is going down thread, but how long has everyone been complaining about drops in earnings?

Since early May contains so many holidays around the non American world, and those elevators with mirror walls are great for talking to your many selves.

April was a good month, May is down but it is too early to get alarmed.  There is lots of ebb and flow throughout the year.  Every few months sales fall and people panic only to see them go up again.

it's true it's not only IS where my sales slowed down
could it be the summer season? from my experience  may, june and july tend to be slower months.

Leo, no offense... But I guess I should probably tell you... The reason no one talks to you in lifts is because you have a strange smell when up close. I figure it's about time someone told you. Youre a nice lad and everything. Everyone else talks all the time in lifts- it's a great place to make friends.
(not that weve ever met or anything:) )

I am having a horrible May at IS.  This is, in fact, the reason I logged into to MS group, to see if others were having the same problem.  I guess it could be a combination of pre-summer slowdown and non-American holidays as others mentioned.  We're still unpacking from our move so I don't get out much these day. :)  Let's hope it gets better soon.  It pains me to look at my stats...

Making an extrapolation from what I earned so far this month, it will be better than April, which was not a very good month for me anyway.

My iStock sales are running at about 30% of normal - way, way down.

As for the elevator, I prefer to get everyone's attention by making a grand entrance.

It's a real ice breaker.

Thank You for pointing out the absolutely factual answer.  The complaining never stops, whether it's for raises that aren't big enough or drops in sales.

This also answers why people don't talk in elevators. But that would be telling...  ;)

I'm picking up there lately, especially this last week. So maybe they have been tweaking the best match again.

Can't comment on IS but can on strangers in elevators.  I am an American living in Budapest and here, although people generally don't talk to strangers, in elevators or anywhere else, they do say hello and good-by to anyone entering or leaving an elevator.

The 2 theories always extant regarding Spring sales slumps are:
1. Ebb and flow
2. Spring is a slow time in micrstock, year after year. Spring is when a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, and some other things happen in Spring too. People go outside just to enjoy the weather who will not go outside again until next Spring. And in the US people get depressed about having just paid their taxes. The other slow time is December, and that's just the way it is.

Regarding the elevator:
What an excellent question! I have never thought about it. Could it be that riding up or down at speed in a closed windowless container just naturally causes people's thoughts to turn inward? Or upward or downward?

IS is on track for me this month (knocks on wood) as it is every month.

People are usually social on elevators if there's at least one extrovert to get the coversation rolling.

On talking to strangers.....I don't like people I don't know. The masses are asses. Not a hard fast rule, just a guideline.
