Title: Strange Email From iStock
Post by: Ed on January 13, 2015, 14:30
I received an email this afternoon stating...

"Issue/Question:
Your payout request for $1.40 has been sent. You can checkout the scheduled payout date for your request at:... "

Here's the problem, I haven't been a contributor to iStock since around 2012 and I asked to close my account back then.

There is a link to check the scheduled payout date, but I can't follow the link because it's in a secure area that you have to log into....and I haven't had an account since I cancelled it back in 2012.

Anyone know of anything that's going on with these folks?

It's like I'm living in a bizarro world LOL

LOL, they are finally getting through the 2012 support tickets!

My guess is that they owed you this amount back then (probably from a sale that hadn't been registered yet when you closed your account), and now that they're switching to automatic monthly payouts, they're sending it to you.

That is odd. When does iStock switch to the auto payments anyway? This month or next? The request system is still in place right now from what I see in my dashboard......

Interesting.  When I was a contributor, I took my final payout after waiting a month or two.  Back then, minimum payout was $50 unless you close you're account.  I received my payout then.

I tried calling them but naturally, they don't have a live person contributors can talk to - only buyers have the privilege of talking to someone.

Assuming that, like me, you didn’t get the email  telling you about this you might like to check out the long thread over there, or at least the OP.

Got a reply from iStock via their ticket system (I'm impressed).  It appears these are royalties that ended up in my account after I shut everything down that have just been sitting.

Good on them for making it right.
