I've got this e-mail from info(at)e.gettyimages.com

Tell us your thoughts and help us do better.

Dear Contributor

To give you the best Getty Images/iStock experience possible, please take a 3-minute survey to tell us what we can do better for you.

Please use the below URL:
surveymonkey(dot)com/r/GIContr?ID=XXXXXX (I did not open yet, better be cautious!)

If you have any questions, please contact contributorsurveys(at)gettyimages.com.

We appreciate your feedback and we will be sending surveys on other parts of the experience later this year.

What do you think about this? Did someone else get this e-mail too?

I guess it's a normal survey; usually companies use them to receive a feedback from the users.
I usually receive requests like this from airlines, e-commerce websites, booking websites.

Yes, I got one, and as far as I know it's genuine - they've done this before and used surveymonkey.

BTW, by posting the URL as you have, I think some one else could take that and fill it in for you... I'd suggest you edit it out.

At first I thought: why give them any information on how to improve, they don't deserve that information.

Then I decided to do the survey to let them know how I feel about their lack of sales and their ESP platform.

Close the business - that's the best thing you can do for all of us.

I got it too.
I think they are wondering why people are not supplying more high quality images, especially for creative briefs.
Well it's pretty obvious it's not worth the time with falling prices.

Getty has reduced prices to compete with Shutterstock and it has worked because sales have increased by 4% but that is no use for suppliers as returns are lower than ever.

Is time travel possible because I'd suggest that?

All the questions are related to site function/ upload procedure.  They've realised they are getting less images than the other sites and figure it must be down to the crappy upload process is my guess, which of course is the least of their problems.

I live next to a major airport.  Over the years there have been numerous "studies" of the noise issue.  Meetings, surveys, sound measurements.  Public hearings, complaint "hotlines".   After a while you stop paying attention because you realize you're just being played. The airlines are in control and are going to do what they want regardless of your input;  they're really only interested in gauging the resistance they'll face and in deciding how fast they can move without generating too much negative kickback in political terms.  They want to be able to say that people were listened to.  Which they were; and then ignored.

I have received it too.

The problems with many briefs is that the return is too low now to invest in them. Most involve many models and high production. No chance to recoup the investment with the cents or few dollars you get per sale. If they want to impulse that program they will have to come with better incentives.

The problems is NOT the upload process. QHero DeepMeta are great tools and uploading directly via ESP is much improved of what it was in the original Istock.

They are not getting the desired amounts of quantity and quality because the eroding treatment to contributors (exclusives and non exclusives).Too many have turned their backs on them. Let's see if they can reverse the trend. It wont be easy, that's for sure.  :-\

I blitzed through the surveys except for the parts where I got to actually type stuff in. I unloaded both barrels there ending with unless you make drastic changes I hope your contributors and buyers all move elsewhere.

Disappear from this planet

I never uploaded a single file to these clowns, but I had a close look to their collection and as far as video is concerned they are just a joke: very small amount of files and the quality is really sh*t, I have not seen a single one of the good video artists submitting there.
No idea about photo, although I believe they fare a bit better there

AFAICR, they used to, but obviously they stopped because of the payment rate.

Agree, but if you check the video collection (istock, I have not looked at Getty), it is astonishing to note how far down they have gone

They've done it at least once before (I got that one), but I don't think anything changed for the better.
When you see the cheap and nasty ads on Getty's file pages (if you're not a buyer and you don't have AdBlock/other), it's clear that their management is out to lunch. Or being severely squeezed from above to make more money with no resources to improve things for buyers or sellers.

In my past I had a bit to do with surveys....generally if mgt don't like what they hear they find something wrong with the survey rather than their preconceptions ;-).

How about paying the industry standard royalty rates of 30 - 40%?!!  When they flucked us out of the rates we'd earned is when I stopped bothering with them.

I left IS long ago, so I can't do the survey, but some of you might consider suggesting that they READ THIS FORUM and find out what photographers really think.
