Title: YTD counter working on ESP??
Post by: FrodoBaggins on June 11, 2018, 18:17
Hi,

For the past week or so, the YTD counter in ESP has only registered about 3 sales! Normally it’s between 5-15 a day! I’m hoping it’s broken, but are others here getting regular, normal sales on Getty & IStock? Or is it a massive summer slowdown?

The other issue is that I can’t access the forum anymore - it keeps telling me to login, even though I’m already logged in! So I can’t see if there are any posts on there about it.

Thanks in advance

Eventually it was officially revealed that it's not working.
I read about someone else who can't get onto the forum, despite help from support.

Same here.  Sales numbers have absolutely plummeted since June 1st.  Usually I see about 20-30 sales per day, but since June 1st that has changed to only 2-3 per day, a drop of 80% or so.

Unfortunately the sales  numbers are confirmed by the views shown by Deepmeta - for the last few months my Deepmeta views have been showing about 2200-2500 over the past 30 days but that is now dropping rapidly, down to 1860 or so and falling.

Looks like something significant happened on June 1st.

I'd really like to think that is some sort of glitch, but my gut fell given my experiences with iStock over a twelve year period is that we've been screwed big time.  Hope I'm wrong and it's just a temporary thing.

Same here. I'm not a great seller on Getty and IStock. Last week YDC stopped and stay there. Usually four or five sales a day. I hope its a technical glitch.

Is the DeepMeta view counter broken too?

Seems strange that it suddenly stops working on June 1st, and the DeepMeta views counter stops at the same time.  Still, this is iStock and as we know anything can and will happen particularly in the IT side of things.  Hopefully these things are just broken and not updating, but unfortunately we won't know the true situation until the June statements are published, which won't be until July 20th.  So glad I went non-exclusive three years ago.  Okay, being non-exclusive hasn't been greener grass and it's a bit of a struggle, but at least I don't lay awake at night wondering what the next iStock nightmare will be.

Doesn't DM rely on info from iS?
So if iS info is 'stuck', so will DM be?

(My stats have been stuck from the 6th, not the 1st - and somehow I got one increment recorded o/n, which is one since the 6th.)

Yes thats what I thought tbh I just assume IS "stats" are always wrong saves a lot of angst and I reckon I'm right 90% of the time.....

They said it's fixed, but definitely didn't update with the sales from the last week or so.

Where is the YTD counter I can't find it, I thought istock had stopped showing the daily downloads are ages ago, I find not being able to see what has been download and when extremely frustrating, if all the other sites can do it why cant stock?

They can, but they choose not to, in the grounds that they can't know what a sub sale has earned until the sub period has expired. I'm averaging a lot more on sub sales now than I was when they were 'fixed price', so we need to be careful what we wish for.

Of course, they could still tell us which files sold in real time, without the $$, but they choose not to.

Sales across the board usually drop about 20% for iStock as a whole starting on June 1 and don't pick up again usually until after labor day weekend in early September. It is probably just the usual summer sales blues. :o

Have I misremembered or did they say as some point they would provide real time sales info? (not price though)

I remember someone on here claiming they'd said that, but I couldn't find a link and I don't remember reading it anywhere official.

That might have been me ;-). Circular discussion!

;D  I think they said they'd give us 'better' tools, and IIRC there may have been one or two additions since pulling us into ESP, but nothing very interesting  (to me).

I think what was said was maybe some day, but no promise. That was on the forums after a new version of ESP late last year. I doubt that the statement was anything official, just a maybe. It's like me saying, if I ever have a spare million dollars, I might buy you a new camera. Don't expect I ever will, but see, I said I'd buy you a new camera.  ;)

One of those things where, when I see it, I'll believe it. Right now the DM stats are most friendly but ESP did add some details and impossible to understand complicated, loaded with irrelevant data, kind of charts and graphs.

When you log on ESP you see the counter up between ESP batch data and the Views data.
At least in this way it shows on my account.

Where is the YTD counter I can't find it, I thought istock had stopped showing the daily downloads are ages ago, I find not being able to see what has been download and when extremely frustrating, if all the other sites can do it why cant stock?

The YTD counter doesn't show what has been downloaded, it only gives an indication of number of downloads. It isn't in real time and it stops and starts with monotonous regularity.
However, to see it: Account Management > Profile.

In addition, they have, out of their infinite magnaminity, provided a account of images 'viewed' (i.e. clicked on) and those added to boards over the past rolling month:
ESP: Content Statistics.

Don't shoot the messenger.

the year show exactly the sale  minus think stock and getty premium i think...if you sum up them you will see that the number f our total sales is correct.
today i see changes eery hour like shutter stock.....if yu don't sell nothing clearly the number won't change. if you sell constantly it ill change hour by hour.

Often it stops for several days, then the back sales get added in a rush.
