https://petapixel.com/2018/02/26/500px-acquired-vcg-getty-images-china/

They announced more community-centric features I couldn't care less about:

- Better statistics to improve and understand the reach and impact of your photos;
- Top charts and badges that will help expand your exposure and reward your achievements;
- Private messaging to support meaningful communication between members;
- Sub-communities that allow photographers to connect around shared interests, styles, and locations

The number of sales and the dollar amount are the only statistics that matter.
And Badges? Lol!

I'm only interested about this announcement:
If youre selling photos with us, youll be excited to hear that we will be announcing new partnerships that will give your photos an even greater reach, and new markets in which to sell.

What about sales?

Never had a sale on 500px. Even tiny places like 2020 sell nearly every week.

Exposure doesnt pay the bills.

This was a fire sale. Rumor has it that they were sold for only $17 milllion (They raised $22.3 million total).

They company didn't seem to be doing well otherwise they wouldn't have sold for such a meager price.

3.2% of my 2017 revenue came from 500px. That's ahead of DT, DP and FAA.
The batch received last week, covering about 2 months, is also better than what I got in two months from DP, DT FAA or Alamy and more or less the same level as 123RF.

I only made a few sales while on the site. Closed my account after they raised their rate for publishers.

What is the connection between China Visual Group and GettyImages?

When Corbis/Veer were sold out to VCG, Getty were in cahoots and got access to license all images listed on Corbis outside of China.

Jonathon Klein boasted that he got the milk cream and yoghurt without having to buy the cow

More exciting BS

Didn't they just add partners with VCG a couple years back? 16 people report the same earnings as BigStock how's that for related earning numbers? No I never applied at 500px, I never saw any hope at 30% of nothing for non-exclusive licenses. Awesome and exciting community... not interested.

Good point, the Chinese copy everything and have no idea, or want to know about copyright.

But this could be the next big thing. I just wanted to say that before someone else does. Otherwise, good point, I agree, not sending anything to 500px before and for sure not now.  ;)
