Why doesn't IStock support FTP?, instead of this ImageManager BS. Don't you know that FTP is the industry standard. Drop ImageManager, support FTP, and you'll make alot of people happy.

Yes, it can be very easy for a person to grab sensitive data by 'snooping'/intercepting an ftp session. Especially if they are on the same network as you are.

Some companies are not willing to take that kind of risk, where their photographers are subjected to less secure connectivity, and I can't say I blame these companies for sticking to their stand, they have a valid reason for being 'stubborn'.

I'm happily using ftp on other sides, but have also noted how some sites do some 'preventive' (definitely not foolproof) measures to avoid security breaches. FYI, FTP sends login information in plain text, so yes, one can steal the userid & password.

SFTP is more secure, but not totally secure, because the key will still have to be made known publicly. I won't deal with the details, as I'm not totally familiar.
