I will be traveling to Colorado August 2-10 and have some extra time so thought it might be nice to throw a little photographic party in my old home town 9I lived in the Ft. Collins / Loveland area for 20+ years)
So I have booked Studio 121 in Loveland for the full day August 7th and we will do an intensive Crash Course on Studio and Location Lighting. At $45 per participant this workshop is going to be the bargain of the year because all I really need to do is make enough to pay for the studio and cover part of my travel costs and I am going to be a happy guy.

So here is the full deal

I will set this up as a Meetup at http://www.meetup.com/vegasvisionlights which is the site I run all my workshops from so you will need to join the group but membership is free.

Date: August 7, 2009 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Location: Studio 121 in Loveland

Cost $45 per person with a 12 person limit
I will book 3 local TFP models and an MUA for this workshop. Participants will be responsible for obtaining their own model releases and ensuring that they follow through on their TFP arrangments with these models. WHile I know times are tough as always I would encourage you to tip models and MUA's who you feel provided you with excellent service.

I will be traveling with enough studio lighting, strobes, soft boxes, pocket wizards etc. that in conjunction with the gear that is alreay in the studio we will be able to run 3 sets at any one time.

I will provide reflectors for use outdoors but suggest you also bring your speed lights for fill techniques.

We will cover the following lighting techniques

In Studio
1. High Key In Camera Isolation

2. Mid Key - The Clamshell

3. Low Key - The Beauty Dish and single light artistic beauty

We will work with soft boxes, reflectors, grids and beauty dishes. We will discuss various forms of light modification and the hows and whys of using each technique. This will be a hands on workshop you will spend far more time doing then you will sitting in a chair listening. I will convey lecture material but in a loose learn by doing atmosphere rather then a stiff classroom setting.

Outdoors we will work on the following.

1. Over powering the sun - learning how to balance strobe lighting with natural ambient light to obtain clean crisp images with good color and contrast from foreground to background while using the strobe to also separate the model from the background creating depth and dimension.
2. Shooting at mid day - yea it is a challenge but it can be done and we will show you how to make the best of horrible conditions.

3. Reflectors and board to board lighting meaning I will teach you to use multiple reflectors to move and soften light even in situations where you would not believe there was enough light to shoot.

All in all participants in this workshop will receive the ultimate value for their dollar.

Hope to see you there
