Hey guys!

my name is Igor, i am based in italy and developed a free tool for stock sites.

Fist, here is a short video, right after that i will tell you a bit more about the tool...

Stockuploader - Free file uploader for stock photographers

http://www.stockuploader.com

Stock uploader is a free tool that allows stock photographers to upload files to multiple agencies with very few clicks. The concept is that you register your agencies and set up filters that allow you to tell teh program what files you want to upload to each agency. so for example you can tell the program that all video files are sent to istock, while all images are sent to shutterstock and fotolia, and so on..

once you have set up your agencies you choose the files you want to upload and the software automatically sorts them to the various agencies according to your filter. this can be manually changed for each file obviously.

it offers various advantages compared to normal ftp uploading.
nice little features speed up your workflow! for example, ad double click on the table header opens up your browser directly to a url you specify for each agency. so if you set it up right you could land directly on the submission page without having to type every url manaully. there are many more such llittle features you'll discover quickly!

check it out and report back what you think about it!

all sensitive data such as passwords agencies etc is saved locally on your pc! none of these informations is EVER sent to me or andy third party.

best regards

Igor

What advantage does it have over a common FTP program.

New users to the forum have non-active links.  That's the way it is.

with a normal ftp program you have this workflow (for example 5 diffrent agencies)

-open FTP program,
-connect agency 1,
-choose pictures-upload
-wait
-connect agency 2,
-chose pictures-upload
.
.
.

with my program it works like this:
-open the program
-choose pictures
-choose where to upload which pic (done automatically by filters, but you can override that)
-hit upload button
-wait till its finished

you chose the pictures only once, and dont have to do anything till all is over. some people wrote me talling that this is fantastic to upload pictures overnight.

Who exactly are you?  I don't think that anybody in their right mind will trust a programme from an unknown person. Put up a portfolio link.

I guess that youre right!

My name is Igor Masin, I am based in Italy and started with stock photography a few months back.

Here is my portfolio on SS:

http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-591739p1.html

This program has been used by some users on SS and actually its has been them pointing me to this site to let other photographers know about it.
If you have a SS account check the forums, there are 2/3 topics about this program, how it came to life, and comments from people who tested it.
All I want is to share my programming skills to who is interested. There are no viruses or similar things. You can scan it with whatever software you want and use any software to monitor the informations sent in/out from the program.

As I say on the programs homepage I am putting my face into this and cannot afford to put viruses or any malicious software on it.

Sorry if my first post gives a wrong impression.

Thanks for clarifying.  I hope you didn't think that I was being rude but it really would be foolish for anybody to have used this without knowing anything about you.

No need to wait:

My way:

-open FTP program,
-connect agency 1,
-choose pictures
-enter

-connect agency 2
-choose pictures - already marked so only one click
-enter

-connect agency 3
-chose pictures - already marked so only one click
-enter
etc...

Enjoy

if the files are all in the same folter then yes youre right..

i'm not trying to force anyone, i have offered my program for free, and some people are using it.. if you have a look at the SS forum the feedbacks are quite positive. :)

if you dont mind i quote:

Try it, people! You will like it.

-----------------------------------

there are Others..

as said, i made something and share it for free. if you want you can try/use it.. if you don't its fine anyway.

and if you are scared of viruses you should Google the word "gumblar" and you'll see that actually using my program for the time beeing is a lot safer then using a standard ftp program! but that is just a side note.

I dont think its keen to track traffic through your program and then ask for the person to reveal him/herself to give you feedback. In my opinion you have no business in knowing who uploaded how many files.

The reason I am not using your program or want to try it is because you track numbers. I dont care if thats not important data or not, you still have your program communicate with my PC so you can track more than only numbers. I am not sure if you tell people in the tos that this program feeds back data to you. And you should also put in a opt out button for people who dont want to share that data.

I assume your program is not highly protected from hacking and maybe someone with bad intentions can inject malicious code onto a PC  using that same communication you have set up to get the number of files uploaded using your software.

Thanks for sharing, though be ready for the attack when you decided to moneterise your work.

Helllo everybody! Thanks for your feedbacks! Lets go through the points you mentioned:

I like the idea to opt out and will implement it in the next version.
I am asking for the person because the program is new ant thaat single person can help me a lot to make the program better for everybody.
The program tells the site that a file has been uploaded by simply opening a url. If one url is loaded the a upload has happened, (somewhere and by somebody) if the other url is loaded the a upload privess is finished and i know the program has been used. But it is the same as if you would add the url in your browser so its perfectly safe! You can verify this with programs like "wireshark" that monitors all incoming and outgoing data.

I dont have any plans to sell this program. Its free and will remain free. If you want to donate there is the button if you dont i am happy anyway!

If you have other questions or critiques just ask! :)

I like the idea behind this, seems to have some advantages over regular ftp. I'll give it a go when I'm next uploading.

I was rereading this and would like to more carefully answer this post. ALL sensitive data is saved in a sqlite database that is on your computer! That data is used to connect directly to the agencies without passing throug my site. This can be verified by anybody with some programming skills. The program loads a url after any upload to let the webpage know that there has been an uploa, but does not tell by who or anything like that. Actually it is as if somebody would write an anonymous letter telling "i uploaded!" in fact filezilla and other ftp programs are saving your acess data in plain text files accessible by any hacker. The sqlite file is not encrypted (yet) but a hacker wouldnt even search for such a file in the first place... Hope this clearifies some doubts! It you have more please ask!

On this planet NOTHING is free.

I dont like YOUR planet.. The day somebody is forced to pay for my program i'll put the source code online.. It IS FREE AND STAYS FREE! And sorry but your comment is in my opinion an offense to me and who helped me to put this online. If youre used to pay for everythinf then make a donation! :))) so far the only one who is paying is me with my time and the helpers..

The only way that one day COULD get some money out of this is from advertiisers IF the donations are not enough for the cost of the new domain and the site template and so on..

Best regards

stockuploader now has a domain. (edited the first post accordingly)

http://www.stockuploader.com

please update your copy to reflect the new url. today i worked on transferring the site, Tomorrow i will start working on version 1.5.

i would need 2 volunteers for beta testing and one volunteer as moderator on the support forum.

new version (1.5) will have these added features:

-ask for confirmation if the program is closed while uploading
 -working referral Exchange module
 -error messages on failing uploads
 -multiple uploads (not sure yet)
 -display upload speed
-possibility to opt out from the webpage stats and the referral exchange program. (single checkbox to opt out from both)
-support forum embedded in the program
 -new presentation video

if you have other suggestions let me know!

 best regards

 Igor

So it looks like at the very least you can tell the url of the sites that we upload to. As well as the upload dates and how many images we upload to each specific site.  Are you also collecting additional information that you have not mentioned?
