All right guys

I took the plunge and bought ProStockMaster. I've been testing it for a few weeks and it's just sooooooooo great!

The big thing for me was to be able to upload "ftp-like" to Istock and it does! It even adds a default category so that your images go straight in the review queue instead of pending! This is awesome for someone like me who has to wait a week to upload and want to upload ASAP so that I can re-upload at the same time the following week.

You can upload to 8 micros one after the other with just one click. I call it my click and go option.  ;D

Just in a few weeks I've made the cost of the software back jus in time saved.

I strongly recommend it!

Yanik

Cost is $49.

Looks good.  Uploads to 8 sites. the only missing one is StockXpert.  Gives sales statistics.  Gives keywording help

not sure how it deals with all the photos you have all ready uploaded?  Anyone know?

There is a free license, the only restriction is that you are limited to 5 uploads a day which would be annoying ( it should be 8 so you can upload one pic a day to all sites).

They even give referals if you bring in buyers - 25%.

It looks pretty impressive and 5 uploads a day is more than enough for me.

Any security issues related to giving the software our passwords?

Adelaide

5 uploads are you talking about 5 images to all sites or just 1 image to 5 sites?

Well, this is what they say:

Quote
License changes: the free license has no time limitation anymore! You can download and use ProStockMaster with the free license as long as you wish. You can upload up to 5 images daily under the free license. If you wish to remove the upload limit we recommend you purchasing your personal software activation code anytime.

So it is written 5 images indeed, isn't it?

Adelaide

ok
I've just tried it.
It's slow reading images on a Mac Powerbook but who cares!
It's sweet to upload to 8 sites without any trouble.

I've tested it with one image to all the sites except canstock and Istock.
Haven't been hable to upload to LO

One image to 6 sites is ok in the free version.
I'll test it with some more images and probably I'll buy the full version

Prostockmaster looks pretty good but what about security ? You give 8 accounts with 8 passwords. Anybody knows this company ?

I cannot get this to work with IS. It says that the files have been uploaded but then the bar keeps moving like it is still in progress and I never get the confirmation that the uploads completed. I tried several times with the same results. It worked ok for other sites. Has anyone else had a problem uploading to IS?

Except for Istock, I already upload to 7 sites using ftp with one click. It would be nice to have that for istock though. Looks like a pretty good program, but I don't think I'm comfortable with them having all my passwords stored on their server. I'm not sure why they do that too because I don't think it's necessary.

why do you say all the passwords are on theire server?
I'm using Mac and I have a folder created by the software saying it's the Prostockmarter DB
I guess passwords should be stored around here locally. Not in some server.

But If it's not the case I'll be worried.

i would be concerened if the passwords were stored online in their server, but on your own computer there is less of a risk.

Does this program keep track of, for example, the earnings of a certain image (and every other individual image) across all sites.

here's the response I got which gives me great confidence...

"Your credentials are stored securely (in the encrypted database) on your local computer. This data is used to access your web account in supported stock sites and it is never passed through the Internet or in any other way neither to any third party not to ProStockMaster web site.

This applications behavior has been verified multiple numbers of times by independent software labs/vendors, e.g. by Softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/progClean/ProStockMaster-Clean-53790.html

I want people to use my software for free and buy it if they have tried ProStockMaster, they like it and want to remove daily upload limitation. I assume it is a clean, simple and very fair business model. There are no hidden tricks inside the software or on the web site.

Best regards,

David
On behalf of ProStockMaster Support Team"

I hope this helps you guys. I know I feel better now.  :)

That is an ambiguous statement.  It says that it never passes info thru the Web, but then states that the info is used to access your web account.  ???

I know what he means, but it was worded weird.

Ok about security.  My concern was some sort of spyware thing.

Anyway, what about the upload limit in the free version?  Is it really 5 images a day of five (sites x images) a day?

Adelaide

Finally I got some time to look what goes on with our software on the forums.
This summer ProStockMaster starts the third year of its Internet life and we celebrate it by delivering the new and extremely powerful version 1.5. As usual, this release is for both Windows and Mac OS X and we plan delivering a Linux version very soon too (tested on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with Sun Java 5 & 6)

You can get your copy here

For v1.5 we decided to focus on the application improvements and new innovative functionality.
First of all, it means performance improvements, GUI changes, improving the reliability of uploads and errors handling. The application runs much faster now on both Mac and Windows platforms, it verifies the delivery status of the images sent, re-sending the image in case of the network failure, allows you to control image statuses and upload history for any image and any agency and do many other things that we always wanted to add but never had time to do that :-)

Next, we added many new features, making keywording a child play from now on. Among other innovative ideas that we implemented in v1.5 we have build a completely new "Manage Keywords" dialog with the built-in translation function. The idea behind this is quite simple: you do you your best when you describe your image in your native language. So, if you want to describe your image in e.g. Deutsch you just select "German" as your input language (see below) and start entering your keywords in German! They will be translated on-the-fly to English and, if you use the keywords generation, matching English keywords will be found.

With this new stuff the image keywording gets extremely easy.  And to make it even better, v1.5 sports "Import/Export" menus allowing you to save and restore keywords templates per a category. Since we recommend just using your the file system for the categories tree, there is no limitation on number of categores and sub-categories in your category tree. And the best - you can save CSV files with keywords for any category in your native language, requesting the translation on keywords import. Here is an example of  how one can handle this stuff:

In fact, the translation functionality is now the core part of ProStockMaster and we use it here too:

I guess the screen shot is quite self-explanational, but just in case: with ProStockMaster v1.5 you can translate all the metadata in your images to another supported language (western languages - ISO-8859-1). The new image set will be saved in a different folder, keeping your original images immutable. So, you can sell you work now through European agencies too, just translating your images to German, French, Italian or Spanish.

What else? Well there are many, many things! Take a look at  Release Notes to get some ideas of what was done in v1.5. Or get the binaries from our web site and run the software on your machine. We are committed to the same licensing policy since June 2006, and you can get all these new features with a free license, allowing you to upload up to 5 images daily.

Many customers ask if we have any plans adding more new agencies. Yes, we have such plans and the next version 1.6 among other new and innovative features will come up with at least two new microstocks. And as we always did, we will continue to lead the stock photography desktop software market by excellence and continued technology innovation. Keeping the same upgrade policy for more than 2 years now, I am happy to say that all the v1.5 customers are eligible for v1.6 upgrade free of charge.

If you have any question regarding v1.5  - do not hesitate asking me. I'll be happy to answer you question either in this thread or by email (emails can be sent by filling in Contact Us or Support form on our web)
