Title: Refer me to Moneybookers
Post by: leaf on September 25, 2009, 01:44
Well in an effort to lower my fees (http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/how-to-get-your-earnings-with-the-least-possible-fees/) I am planning on setting up a Moneybookers account.  I see they have a referral program, so does anyone want to refer me?

I'll choose a link from this thread within the next 10 minutes from the person with the most posts on MSG.

Whitechild,

This table isn't completely accurate.  When I withdraw money to my UK bank account, above a certain value (EUR350, I believe) the fee is higher than the EUR$1.80 they show there.  This is because this is my secondary account - the primary account must be in your country of residence.

Adelaide, I didn't fully understand why you have UK bank account? I have only Serbian bank account, and MB is sending me money on this account.

Yes, I have a UK bank account.  If I used my Brazilian account I would incur in very high fees (local, not MB's).

I wrote more in another thread (http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/how-to-get-your-earnings-with-the-least-possible-fees/msg117168/?topicseen#new) but the difference in price is fairly insignificant.  On exchanging $5000 you save just under $4.00 by using money bookers (as far as I can tell).

The difference comes if you have a US$ account in your local bank.  Paypal doesn't let you transfer US$ to a foreign country, while MoneyBookers does - letting you avoid the conversion within MoneyBooker or Paypal.  On the other hand.. perhaps they don't.  I just opened a MB account and am playing around with it and it says

Withdrawal requests are always carried out in NOK.
(NOK is norwegian kroner)
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(

Thanks Leaf for your answer.
I was reading the another thread too.
I have also a moneybookers account that I don't use, I will keep using Paypal, since the difference is insignificant, as I thought.

I don't understand, Leaf.  Don't you want to receive the money in your bank in Norway?

@ lead: you can register more than one bank account with MB. The first one has to be in your home-country, all others can be spread around the world. Get yourself a bank account in the currency of your MB account and register it. It should work.

If you want your money come to Norway without extra fees, and your MB-account is in EURO, just talk to the norwegian administration and ask them to join the EURO  ;) (just kidding, but give it a try anyway, IŽd like to travel to Norway some day and I hate currency exchanges)

Leaf, you can receive it to your US$ bank account.

There is no currency conversion, so you do save some money! You were right about your initial thought!

Yeah I do, but if I don't spend all of it I don't necessarily want to convert it right away.  The American dollar is really low right now.
