Hey guys

Have been using the model releaser app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pa.modelreleaseapp) and it exports the model release as two images. The problem im facing is that microstock submitter only allows one image as part of the release, and SS rejects that. Suggest, how do i solve this?

What does this app exactly put on two images?
I supposed releases should be always contained on a single page?

One has the text for the release and the photographer information. The other has model image, details and signature. It can either export as PDF or as JPEG

Unfortunately there is no way to use two images in the program.
Please look in settings of the app whether it's possible to put everything on a single page.

Hello there,

I am the developer of the model release generation app and owner of the company that the OP izzikiorage is talking about. He e-mailed me this forum post to talk to you.

As I understand, your stock submission app won't allow multiple pages to be sent. Our app can save model releases in two formats:

  • Multi-page PDF file
  • JPEG Images for each page

Does your software allow the user to submit PDF files, or only JPEG images? If the latter, is this a restriction the stock photo sites have imposed, or is it a limitation in your software?

I don't necessarily agree with you on what you said about model releases should be on one page only. There is literally no other legal forms in the world that are restricted to one page - for example if you go to the bank to open a bank account, is the paperwork you sign all on one page?

With that said, I do agree that having all of the information on one page looks better and is neater. But unfortunately, this is sometimes impossible depending on how much text the photographer has in the model release - if they have a very wordy model release agreement in place, it's impossible to fit all of the information on one page without the text size being very small and hard to read.

I would very much like to try to get this issue resolved, as our model release creation app has more than 50,000 users. It would be very helpful if you could let me know if the restriction that model releases have to be on one page only is a limitation in your software or if it's limitation that the stock photo sites have imposed on you.  I am trying to think of work-arounds for this issue.  Would it be acceptable to have multiple page model releases as a really "tall" JPEG image with each page stacked on top of each other? In other words, it would be multiple pages, but contained in one single JPEG image file that the user can attach and submit in your software.

Thank you for your understanding & help.

My thoughts on this. Most agencies accept either their own model release form, or the industry standard one that was produced by Getty. The majority don't allow modifications to that form or a form of the photographer's choosing. Hence creating a non-standard model release form will not be acceptable for a number of agencies. The industry standard one is on one page - hence some of the confusion.

Some agencies accept PDFs and JPEGs, others only accept JPEGS - hence that has become the normal model release form in applications that try to support multiple agencies.

Hello,

Thank you for willing to investigate the matter and to improve the quality of life for the users :)

As far as I know, most (if not all) of the agencies do not accept more than a single JPEG file per release. Some of them do accept PDF files but many do not.
So we went with the common format accepted by everyone there and are accepting only a single JPEG file as a release image.
However, I don't see any problems with putting multiple pages in a single JPEG file so this could be a workaround.

Also, we could make the users life even more easy if you could embed some additional information in the JPEG file metadata (we could discuss the format and the information needed in PM or e-mail) so the users could just drag-and-drop the release files produced by your software to StockSubmitter to have them automatically parsed and all the neccessary fields filled.

That sounds good then, I'll see about updating the app soon to format the pages so that the JPEG files are merged into one single file.

Regarding the metadata, shoot me an e-mail at    admin (@)  photographersarsenal.com   and I'll see what your idea is, and hopefully this will be possible to do somehow on the android or ios systems.

Thank you for your response and help.

Hopefully this is not the case for most agencies. I hope most of them can be flexible to join the rest of us in the 21st century and accept digitally generated model releases. The US government has even joined us in the 21st century and allows a lot of their forms to be filled out or signed digitally. That's saying a lot when those guys have finally embraced modern technology. :P

What happens if the user wants to submit a stock photo to 10 different stock agencies and each one only accepts their own form? The model has to sign 10 different forms? What a major pain.

Our model release app does have basic templates for the getty, istock, shutterstock, etc model release forms - at least for the text that's included in the agreement. It's currently impossible though to format the forms exactly how they have everything laid out on their sample forms. Just too hard to do with the way mobile apps work. So far, I haven't heard of anyone having any problems having the model releases generated by our app rejected by those stock agencies yet, and I hope it doesn't become a trend.

I am working on the fix ASAP!

I am also working with the stock submitter software developer to implement a cool new feature that he suggested. :) Will keep you updated.

Hey guys, any luck getting this changed.

I think we are at about 90%.

I should have this all fixed and updated in the android version of the app within the next week, and the iOS version in probably less than a month. Are you using android?
