Check some of their samples images, look for the authors on the web and you'll find a few of the 'togs are heavy SS contributors from the Russian Federation. If I were interested in finding out more I'd put some feelers out with those chaps first.

Dear photographers!

My name is Maria and I recently became the Head of Contributors Department of microstock photobank PressFoto.com and I totally happy for that.

We have a talented team, clear business idea and several goals that we have to achieve. Among our main objectives are to protect copyright and other intellectual property rights and to promote equitable remuneration of creations of the human mind.

We are truly grateful to our contributors for the fact that they share our love of photography and help us to grow and develop professionally. We are open to collaboration with new authors to inspire each other to creativity, new achievements and fruitful daily work. We are proud of the fact that many photographers make their choice in our favor and give us the credibility that we do our best to live up to. We encourage those who share our goals and those who go in one way with us for many years.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me regarding questions of difficulties you may have. Your feedback is really important to us! There are no issues that we couldnt solve together.

Without your criticism, we can never make our site better. But with your support we will do it faster.

Hi Maria,
I want to ask few questions before (if) I could join (ask here so others could get interesting info too):

- can I upload images by FTP?
- what is the minimum size of files? Can I upload sRGB or need to change it to adobeRGB?
- is there IPTC system reading?
- what is the review time (if there's any) for uploaded batch of images? Are there any limits in quantity?
- what about exclusivity? Do you require it?
- do you sell images through partners and re-sellers and do I have option opt in/ opt out? Do you show the list of mediums so I keep control over my work?
- what is the price (and % share) per sold image for artist? Can I set up my own pricing?
- do you sell subscriptions/ credits/on demand?
- what is the minimum payout threshold?
- do I have to pay for upload, account or anything else here?

Most basic info that I miss everytime new agency comes to introduce itself in the forum...

Dear Ariene,

First off all, thank you for this list of questions. Ill try to do my best answering this.

- can I upload images by FTP?
- Yes, it is the most useful way to do it. When (If) you become a PRO contributor, upload photo by FTP is the only thing you have to do, our submitters will publish your portfolio with all attributes and releases, if they are necessary. Here (http://submit.pressfoto.com/documents.html) is our instruction about upload.

- what is the minimum size of files? Can I upload sRGB or need to change it to adobeRGB?
- Minimum file size: 2500x1800 pixels (approximately 4.5 megapixels). If uploaded photos are less than 4.5 megapixels, unfortunately well have to reject them. Maximum file size: not more than 100 Mb. We recommend you to use sRGB IEC 61966 color profile. All photos should be correctly exposed and in focus. Do not upload photos with interpolation (photos should not be upsized more than 5%).

- is there IPTC system reading?
- Yes, we use IPTC system and we appreciate those who use it too.

- what is the review time (if there's any) for uploaded batch of images? Are there any limits in quantity?
- There is no limits, but we recommend to upload part by part every week. It is better than upload full portfolio at one time. If you do it partially, your new photos are always will be on the top of search system. We have inspector system, it works for new contributors. Their inspection lasts from 10 minutes to few days. After that your photos will be shown with no limits. We can delete them, if you ask us to do that. Now we are talking with our contributors about possibility to clear old and non-demanded photos from portfolios. But we are just in process. If you have your own opinion about this, tell me.

- what about exclusivity? Do you require it?
- We do not require exclusive rights for distribution through Pressfoto. You own your content to control and increase your income.

- do you sell images through partners and re-sellers and do I have option opt in/ opt out? Do you show the list of mediums so I keep control over my work?
- We have partners, who upload their contributors portfolios on our site, but we dont sell through our partners. So, the system of sales and payment is clear and open and you can easily control it.

- what is the price (and % share) per sold image for artist? Can I set up my own pricing?
- We are sorry, but you cant set up your own pricing. Royalties for sales on subscription ranges from $0,4 to $0,75. PressFoto  pay to contributor a fee of 50% of all revenue derived from the sale of non-exclusive licence of use of any Content provided by the piece. Here you find more details in a beautiful format: http://www.pressfoto.com/pricing/

- do you sell subscriptions/ credits/on demand?
- We have Purchasing, Subscription and Rent offer. You can read more about it here - http://www.pressfoto.com/pricing

- what is the minimum payout threshold?
- PressFoto makes payments from $20 every month.

- do I have to pay for upload, account or anything else here?
- You dont have to pay on PressFoto, it is photobank to earn, not to spend your money!

Best regards,
Maria Galitskikh

Maria,

The prices on Pressfoto seem to be in EUR and you say you pay photographers in USD. Can you explain ?
Pressfoto is, as far as I am concerned a Russian agency and at some point paid in Russian ruble, is it still the case ?  The ruble, as a result of Putin bravado, is weakest ever and I would prefer to be paid in some stable currency.

Dear BelieveInStock,
You have a very nice nickname really)

Despite the fact that one of our offices located in Russia, we are an international agency with a presence in Vietnam and Singapore. All our prices are in USD and all payments to authors also are in US dollars. During this year we have indexed prices and payment in rubles only for Russian authors (wich prefer to work with rubles), considering jumping course, to avoid loss of their earned money. For everyone else, calculations were and still are in USD, one of the most stable currencies in the world. Although the British pound, too, would not be bad?
