Prioritized Editing for 500px Marketplace

(1/2) > >>

Zero Talent:
Some movement from 500px:

We’re currently in the process of reviewing our entire collection in an effort to identify the highest quality content. I’m reaching out to let you know your images display the level of creativity and quality we’re looking for, and you’ll be joining a select group of photographers whose work will be prioritized and fast-tracked into our 500px Marketplace for licensing

This sounds interresting!
Other agencies could also benefit from curation, instead of asking customers to dig in a pile of garbage with million of similars and low quality material

This problem can be easily solved by having a higher level layer of premium content. This way the customer has the choice - look at everything or look at premium.

My best selling files right now would never have been accepted at any agency a few years ago. They are ugly, harsh lighting, weird compositions...but they were taken in the real world and not beautified to the usual stock standards.

I have no idea what they want to chose, but the world market is extremly diverse and personally I doubt that one team of editors can make selections for the entire planet.

But good luck to them, every agency is trying to find an angle they can promote.

I think what many of us would really like to see is a curated 'art' photo site, where there's a channel to submit work for consideration.   Yes, this represents some amount of work for the agency, and at this point I'm not aware of any where this is happening.  FAA accepts anything, with predictable results.   Crated.com started down that road but gave up and ultimately folded.

I can deal with rejection.  I'd just like a chance at selling through a site that isn't stuffed with repetitious junk.

Nice in theory....but my most 'liked' and also my most original pics don't get accepted for Marketplace - and even those accepted take MONTHS to wander through the system. Given how much it costs now, this is a crazy waste of non-selling time.
:(

PS I've been in this line long enough to know the quality is ok!

I'd agree that like you, most here would. Didn't Canva do something like this which included removing entire accounts. I'm not sure this is something good ahead for some people.
