500px--Any Sales? Should I renew my membership?

What is the membership good for and what is its relation to sales?

The last time I read anything about 500px was when they hired a former IStock exec to show them how to slash the promised payments to photographers and replace their current business model with... well, we never found out. I closed my account.
Anything new since then?

Former iStock admin Kelly Thompson, with his now infamous “Money will not make you happy,” quote, appears to still be working at 500Pix.

Yeah its like Scott got fired from SS after that giant beef in their forum and lo and behold what happens? FT picks him up and he shows them every trick in the book on how to make it misserable for contributors!!

When they cut the royalty rate I pulled my files from marketplace (left them on 500px in case things changed - they haven't). When my free awesome membership (for participating a survey on watermarking) was up I just let it be the freebie as I didn't see any value in the memberships.
I wouldn't pay them anything unless you really like having a portfolio there (unless you've had tons of contacts via their directory listing, I wouldn't value that at all).
I know some people don't think alexa rankings have any value, but those for 500px have been down this year and those for marketplace have plummeted - for example last August, marketplace global/us was 34,148 / 47,659 and this month it's 161,234 / 181,179. By comparison SS is 292 / 381

Scott didn't get fired he quit to go join Adobe. Six months no compete clause in the SS contract. I have the feeling that now, they rely on distributors much more than on sales coming from their own marketplace. After long dry periods, comes a flood of delayed distributors sales.

I did try one year with awesome account or something similar, and realized that you get only view at your statistics - who liked your photos and frequency of views and comments, etc - something that I even don't want to see. You also get web site, but you get it also with your adobe subscription.
Everything else you get with free account, so it was easy decision for me, to step out. Selling photos does not depend on type of account.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I got one sale and earned something like 45 cents, so I immediately opted out of partner sales, and I will remove my photos from marketplace as well and keep low resolution files only, just I'm too lazy to even look there.

500 looks great and Pretty. some great Players there also. wish SS looked that good But ain't never gonna happen with the database they have and the Lowrent Backend.. 500 looks Like a gallery and SS looks Like Walmart. or Costco compared. Looks very High end But...I suppose its really Not.Im not a fan of any Pay to Play scenario.

After 2 years of being there i've earned ~110$ [250$ in total but - 140$ for awesome subscription].
Almost 8000 images and ~2.5 million of views. Pretty useless in terms of money earning.

Mid range 4 digits dollars since August 2015, with a free account and only mid range 3 digits photos (~30% curated into their Prime collection).
My mid range million views don't matter, since my upper 3 digits range followers are not there to buy from me.
And I don't participate in those time wasting I-like-yours-so-you-like-mine games.

It looks to me that only that day, I earned more than you in 2 (two) years, with a port ~20 (twenty) times smaller than yours.
