Hi Stock Folks,

I've just created my homepage and wanted to see what edits or changes I should make according to your experience?

Here is my URL-

http://www.tigerpix.net

Now I can load up a full size pics for evaluation-education purposes.

Thanks.

Tom

At least on your own web site you should include referral links to all the agencies. You might make a buck or two off of those...

Crestock is all one word

The text could be a little larger (maybe I just have poor eyes)

There is no way to contact you online.. like an email address or a 'contact me' fill in the box type form.

I would say too soon to create your website (at least regarding photography), I don´t think it will get you any advantage, good luck!

I second that. You should have a contact form on your website for visitors to contact you. Wink

This is an excellent site! I love it!

Tom

What are you intending to do with the web site - it will be very tough to come anywhere near the top of a search with a simple site like this. Are you intending to create a blog to keep the content up to date? I was in a similar position 3 years ago, and have worked hard to blog regularly and try to improve the visibility of my site. I do get at the top of the first page of Google searches with "Warsaw photographer guide" but that is hardly a common search term. On simple things like "stock photos", I'm nowhere to be seen!

All in all, a web site may make you feel good, but you need to be very clear of its purpose.

Agreed.  If the goal is to direct people to your content, I would lose all that stuff on the front page about "learning" and "first year" or whatever it said.  Putting out your inexperience won't particularly make buyers want to come and spend time looking at the work.  Make the work speak for itself.

You state that this is a "Business Website." It looks more like a personal website. If it's a personal site it's fine to show friends but if it's a resume site to get photo jobs no one cares of any past experience that is non-photo related and they sure don't want to hear that you are self-taught. That's not employer-friendly. Your work should speak for itself. You want to wow a first time visitor to your site with images, not words. If it's a site to sell your photos you need referral links to your portfolios but I wouldn't do that until you build up more images. Divide your images into subjects, or galleries and put the best, most dramatic photos up front to represent each subject area and make the viewer want to click on it to see more.

Blogging.  Just as others have said, "Keep your content current."  Blog about interesting topics (or a niche topic) and you will get noticed.

But, blogging gets boring.

For the reader or the author? I quite enjoy writing my blog - I'm never sure who is going to read it, but one day I could be famous... Wink

I get an average of 60 visits a day now (and a pause for everyone to say "wow")!

Consider getting a Wordpress website. There are many plugins to aid in SEO and a ton of other functions. Like others said, add a blog and contact form. And perhaps some information about you. Otherwise it is just a link site.
