For those of you who use models, do you get them from agencies?
What is the average pay for a model?
I was thinking of putting up some ads at the local college, but I'm not sure what a fair price is.

Awesome, thanks!
I was hoping $50/hour was the right range. :) And my plan is to post notices in the theater bulletin areas at the local university.
-
$10-$20 is the right range for non-model models.

per hour?

Well, most people hiring non-model models stepping in front of the camera for the first time aren't going to make thousands off of the images. I'm all for compensating where compensation is due, but I see no reason to pay first time college students $50/hour.

What about commissions on the photos? Or pay plus commission.? Would this be more work than it's worth?
-
Yes, more work that it is worth.

I have paid as little as nothing, but given the models a CD of retouched images.
I have paid as much as $100 per hr for a very experienced model.
In general in my area (Southern California) the semi-pro models are asking $75 per hour but are willing to take $50.
A good model and MUA can make or break a photo shoot.
So I am in full agreement with Chumley on the importance of good talent.
I find some on Model Mayhem, and some are referrals from people that I have already worked with. After a while you will build a reputation and people will actually seek you out.

I don't "EVER" pay Models for Penny stock. My students pay them so they can learn. I Pay Models with copies of the work. so that they can use to get paid assignments. Some of my Models have made $1,000s of dollars using My Images in their Ports.
Thats the way it is and thats the way it's been forever. How good you are and the value of the work Is their payment. Of course. I work In Hollywood. every waiter in a restaurant is a Model trying to make it and they need Images. I've had men and women who are smart enough to sell themselves make "A LOT" of Money with My work........To get them More work. If I lived in a small town In Idaho? , Im sorry. Maybe move On to products or Food or landscapes. TRUTH.!

Model's payment per hour = (Average salary in the city per month / 20) / 8
or TFP, sure

Another option is using yourself as a model. That's what I do sometimes for stills and video.

Is it worth to pay models to earn few cents?

You paid them with EXPOSURE? Ugh.
Why not just pay them for the time they put in for you?

Same guy who blows his trumpet “If it weren’t for guys like me fighting SS to increase royalties to contributers, back when they were paying 20 cents...”
Meanwhile the guys still supporting SS and their now 10 cent scheme

If you take a non-model model, you can only agree to pay $ 50 per hour. That will be enough.
