Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if there is a free file converter out there that will allow me to convert .jpg to .tif files while leaving in the .exif shooting information. I have tried several free image editors -- Irfanview, Gimp and even Microsoft Paint but they all seem to strip the shooting information out when converting to .tif.
Even the software that came with my Canon camera seems to strip this out.
I really need the shooting information. Anyone got any ideas??

I think you are asking an interesting but old question, not being critical, but when you read and follow, it's much worse than just some free software.

Seems to be a universal problem.
http://www.sphoto.com/techinfo/rawconverters/pages/exifiptc.htmThe Irfanview forum has messages going back years 2008 maybe earlier. I found one site that had this link above and the question was posted in 2004! People say the RIOT plugin will handle it, until the author joined in and said, no it doesn't.
Have fun and what you will find is you can copy the EXIF data to another file and replace it. I have Breeze Browser and didn't even know I could use it for this. Basically I just gave up and figured I'd lose the data between file types most of the time. You may find a better answer, but I've tried and never found a good answer in four years of looking for myself.
