Rules of uploading stock photos taken in shipyard, construction sites etc

What are the rules for photographing construction sites, gear, machines, ship interior, engine room, mechanics shops, shipyard etc...

I am asking this because I just had intership and took a lot of photos to make essay, and taught to possibility to upload them on stock sites

Today I was just shooting some photos from outside a boatyard, so I didn't need any authorization to be "in" there.
Could I use these images for editorial for example?

In the UK, that would be OK, provided that 'outside the boatyard' was indeed public property.
Other countries presumably have their own laws.
