So I started this business in October... I'm up to a portfolio of 750 on Shutterstock, and similar at other sites. I really have only been uploading regularly to Shutterstock, Adobe and iStock... some Dreamstime and Bigstock. Everywhere else seems a waste of time. Anyway, today I sold an extended license for the first time. Woot! And a few days ago I discovered my image in Forbes. Very excited. Seems like business is getting a bit better with each hundred photos. I also started a YouTube channel which adds some more fun to the whole thing! Just wanted to share!    ;D

Here is the link to the Forbes article! It's the matchbox one a bit down the page...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/carmendrahl/2016/11/17/the-military-might-benefit-from-this-safer-smokescreen-ingredient/#42953be037b4
I've seen my photos in many places online already but this was the first publication I recognized. Thanks for all your encouragement! It was a good day...

Reverse image search, I guess, using google for instance. Also, Microstockr has this feature included.

Congrats!

I bet there are a dozen of copycats already uploading the same concept as we speak, another dozen making the same picture as we speak and another dozen thinking about doing it!

Good for flattery, indeed, but bad for business.

My recommendation for "flattery" seekers is to seek it on social media. Post your stuff on Facebook, Instagram, Flickr etc and I can guarantee a much better return of investment, if "flattery" is what matters. On the other hand, flattery seekers must be aware that social media photo thieves often forget to flatter!

And that's bad even for the "flattery" business  :P
