Things I have learned since starting photography on Sept 2nd 2008

My pictures stink - Auto mode is not my friend
My pictures are blurry – bought cheap tripod
My pictures are still blurry – bought expensive tripod
My pictures are still blurry – bought remote
Found out what noise is (1st rejection) – read how to fix in Photoshop
Still have noise – found out why all pictures should not be 400 ISO Wink
Still have noise – “oh great” read reviews that state my camera has noise issues
Chromatic AbaWhat? – new term to look up. (rejection)
What is this histogram thing? – read internet, that helped
Need model release? – Why, ya can’t see their face or identify them (rejection)
Why do I have dots in my sky?  UFO? – learned that sensors need cleaning
Raw? – to be continued……

Could be worse, I've been having a few focus issues lately, went to get my eyes checked and found they'd deteriorated to a point I can no longer buy contact lenses and if they keep going the way they are I'll be eligible for partial sighted status soon. If anything though it makes me feel confident that if I can take a good picture now, once they send my new bottle bottom glasses, I'll be awesome Smiley If I end up too blind, then I'll sell myself as the blind photographer, you'll never get me out from behind my lens, oh no.. never!

hahahha..... Grin it so funny because i really how bad my photos were and i learnt a lot new photos lingo....sorry i have not been diligent in learning how to solve the "problems" of my photography skills and i don't touch up any photo....unless it is to "erase" a small unwanted object or logo that was found to be offensive for stock. But i learnt a lot and try to take better photos. Wink

What is your camera model and preferred lens(es)? Maybe we can help you out with some specifics. All cams have their quirks.

Yay!

No ... maybe not.

Wey hey!

Seriously, I believe we're all learning, all the time. Ten years ago if someone had talked about 'noise' in a photograph I would have thought them nuts. A photograph with sound ... ?

Funny thing is how much of a photography dork you become, when the optician turned off the lights and was shining a little one into my eyes all that I could think was how much noise there was and how it could do with running through PSP.

buy Langford's basic photography i know some lphotographers and lecturers who update it. It really is the best, I still use it to check up on stuff. Then in a year buy Langfords advanced photography. Keep it up, it improves your photography

Well thanks for all the responses!  I just returned from a carribean cruise and got some amazing shots.  I just took 10 shots of the same subject and changed the settings everytime.  Now at least 1 of the 10 was in focus.  Needless to say I went through some cards.  The camera I have is a Sony A100.  Somehow a few of my pictures have noise even though I used ISO 100 and it was a sunny day.  The noise was located in the sky.  Not sure how that happend.

Practise makes perfect....400D then 450D but it also helps if you have a good L lense.Take 1000's of photos and before long you images will improve and look sharp even at 100%.
