Hello all,

I am newbie. I am already in Shutterstock and submitted few pictures which I got rejected. I tried to isolate them in white with photoshop but I've done something not correct. That's the reason of rejection - "Overuse--Overuse of noise reduction software". Please give some advise and tell me how you make photos with white backgrounds.
I appreciate your help
Thanks

I think there are a few problems here.

It would help to have full size images but even at this size they look soft without much detail. I'm guessing that's why they got a noise reduction rejection. This may be due to your camera and/or a soft lens or something you did during your workflow.

I see little hairs and dust which I would remove before submitting.

The pencils have a harsh orange shadow with jagged edges probably from the isolation.

You may want to try some different lighting techniques to get better isolation.

Look at the natural wood of the pencils.  They are very much posterized.  Too much adjusting going on.

While I refrain from image reviews, it's easy to say you have somehow over processed your files. Your D90 should be able to produce nice images.

Opinion, the shallow depth of field is a nice idea on the video cable, but it's a bit too shallow. You have about 1/4 inch in focus and then it fades fast.  Smiley

Same problems that jump out on both. The shadow area is posterized and has fringing. Look at the tip of the blue pencil for purple fringing.

Good luck.

How about this one?
What do you think? Will it be accepted?

I don't think the coconut will be accepted. Really messy looking. You might want to to clean up the stray fibers and white thread. I see two shadows under the coconut. One of them has a hard edge and the other one has a lot of color noise and should be smooth. There should only be one shadow.

...A D90 should be able to produce nice images...

While I also own a D90, I hardly think that this is the problem here...

Still - LOL.

Are u "IN" or are you trying to get in?     If you´re trying to pass the test.  I´d recommend you to go with something simpler.  Just make sure it´s sharp as hell without added sharpening, and correct whitebalance.  Also go out from your house.  Im sure they reject automaticly if they see stuff from your  office / house Smiley  Usb cord, coffecup, pen, your own socks (kidding)...

Good luck

yeah I noticed that white thread the second I saw the coconut. You always want to clean up the object your shooting before you shoot. Wipe electronics down, clean everything up, etc. You'll get better shots, less rejects and spend less time touching up in post-edit.
