i will shoot tomorrow in a small studio for quite my first time.

Iam not a pro photographer and a newbie at shooting in a studio.

I will have my friend and my wife as a model, so here is my question:

What topic or idea to shoot at studio?
What items to i need to take with me too the shooting?

Help!  Huh Huh Huh please

Sorry my friend, you have stumbled onto a taboo topic.
Many here are very helpful when it comes to critics and giving advice on where to submit, which sites are not worth your time etc.
But if we actually have good ides about what subjects to shoot, we are going to keep it to ourselves.

Seriously, if you have never shot in a studio before, just have fun with it.

Yep you are right - so anyway just tell me what you already have shot in the studio.

Usually one would think about what to shoot before even renting/going into a studio.

Shoot anything you'd like!

I would suggest looking at the sites you are going to submit to, look for their list of images they would like to have submitted and go from there.

Take a board game and some beers with you because it seems your shooting session will be very boring and frustrating.  Wink

Hahahaha. If it's his wife with his best friend, a gun might come in handy too.  Roll Eyes

Last year, a burglar! (well, almost).

Seriously, you need to make a shoot list first before you start. Put the props in order of shooting, thoroughly cleaned. Make sure the fingernails of the models are clean and filed smoothly. Let them brush their teeth before. No chewing gum, it looks funny when they cheer. No garlic dishes 12 hrs before the shoot. Tell them not to rush to your cam after each and every shot to see "how they look". Use a monopod, focus by 1 point on the high contrast edge between the eye white and the iris. Keep them at least 1m away from the background. Position them on the same frontal level. Don't go under F16.

If it's your first time to direct models, just be relax. Models need to be directed by somebody that can control all at the same time. That skill will come in time. Have fun!

I was also going to suggest "aktfotos", but with your wife & friend as models it may not be such a good idea... :p

Action photos. More than just solo glamor NAKTFOTOS. They're supposed to do something, like praying the rosary together.  Roll Eyes Wink

+++ definetly brush teeth - working through the images of the 2nd time were I forgot, what a pain cloning out the specks on the teeth of every image Sad

if first time in studio - concentrate more on having fun and learning then what stock shots you get (they will probably be better anyway if you are having fun) - take some music that you all like too.

if there is other people around (including other model) let them know you are happy for them to tell you ideas, or for them to tell you if something is wrong (plenty of times I've had someone point out a collar is skew or hair coming loose etc)

gold fish and take some headphones for the call centre shots.

The list could be endless, but the main point is to come up with a plan beforehand on paper so you can look at it and check off as you go.

Anyway - thanks for your help (not you HOLGS you are banned to talk german in this forum forever) here is the first picture from my today's shoot.

We got more than 400 images, most of them are great and usable.

What do you think?

The dress may have IP issues, unless it was made by someone you know and has a PR.

Well... if you'd followed Sean's advice, or my advice you wouldn't have any potential IP issues with clothing Wink

I can't say there's much use for a hot girl in a tight dress with a drill, but aside from that, it looks good.

Mhhh did't thought about that - how do i found out if there is a IP issue with the Clothes? The Top is from Promod (something like H&M).

hi all,

have been lurking for a while but this questions has been kicking around my head and as it came up i might as well ask:

how do you take images of models wearing clothes if all designs are IP of someone?

cheers

Andy

Take plain clothes or with a simple generic pattern in the fabric, like plaid or stripes. Hint for a faster workflow: make sure the buttons have no logo on it.
