I just signed up and queued up a bunch of files to upload.  It looks like every one is going to fail with "Error #2038" and there's no way to cancel the upload so I just closed the browser to kill it.  I emailed a request for an FTP account.

Not a very promising start.

I also got this error sometimes. For me helped to close window and wait for some time. And than it worked again. I am unsure why this happens. I asked for FTP too but I havent received answer yet.

I uploaded about 500 images yesterday, they got approved sometime yesterday or last night (only a few rejected for being duplicates -- whoops!), and this morning I have my first sale -- $2.60.  Very promising!

How nice for you. If only I could upload something.  Are you saying you got 500 through that web interface? Or did they give you FTP access?

I emailed them to ask for FTP access, just as they suggest on their site, and got it within a few hours.

I went back this morning expecting I'd have to do something to formally submit them, but I saw they were (almost) all approved.

Couldn't be easier!

No response yet to my FTP request.  I tried the web interface again, with FF and IE, it doesn't work.  In fact it hung IE and I had to kill it with Task Manager.

Ok, GraphicLeftovers, I give up, I'm walking away now.  Drop me a line if you ever want some of my files.   :)

After uploading process is very easy there. If you have your data saved in IPTC you have to do nothing more. Simple just upload and they will go to pending immediately. There is no need to select or confirm anything. Everything is set to default. This is really fast. I was kindly surprised when I uploaded my first batch.

Hi stockastic,

We've been having issues with the flash uploader on our site. I think it is a windows specific issue and I'm working on fixing it still. In the meantime, we can set up an FTP account for you. If you can email me your username on our site at [email protected] I will set up an FTP for you. Thanks and sorry for you having to wait!

I received FTP access and I'm in!  I'm now uploading a half-dozen files which I am confident will make me rich.  Thanks.

When you really get down to it, it's hard to beat FTP, which now has about 40 years of debugging invested in it.  This embedded Flash/Java stuff is just too tweaky.

My first group sailed through quickly, so I FTP'd a dozen more.  After a few hours I still see them on the FTP server, not showing up as "unfinished" or "under review".   Is that normal, or a sign of trouble?

Its normal.  Some of mine have taken a while but they have always made it on to the site.

No Danicek isnt right. If you where reading all posts about this problem, not just taking parts from it, you could see. But not so big deal with me anyway. Discussion about that problem would be probably endless, and with no solution. :) So I am not going to continue in it. I will behave according to the rules of this forum (as I always did/do) and according how authority (Leaf) tell me to behave. Thats it.

danoph How about photos? Are photos selling well on your site? Because your site looks much more aimed at graphics it makes me wonder if uploading of photos is worth there?
Had someone photo sales there already?

Yes, about a week after uploading (using the FTP account GLO provided really fast after mailing them), I got my first sale (http://graphicleftovers.com/graphic/hotel-bell-service-bell-317/ref=Franky242/) which came as a rather big surprise to me, being rather new in stock photography. By checking the views on my photos (I do not do any vectors), I can definitely recommend to upload there - they are fast, friendly and have a fair acceptance ratio!

Thats good to hear. I congratulate you to your sale! :)
I thought photo sales will be very rare (if any) there but now I see that it is also possible to make some money there with photos.

Anyone else had success with selling photos there?

I hope that also danoph will came here and tell us something about their attitude towards photo selling at their site.

Haven't had one sale yet after 22,202 views.

Ok that got my attention.  How could that possibly be true? Maybe the site's view counts are bogus, or the prices are too high.

I am not clear whether stockastic is suggesting the view counts at The3dstudio.com are bogus or the other site mentinoed here. The view counts at The3dstudio.com are accurate.

No, I think there was a confusion of sites. 22,202 views and no sales would look suspiciously if they were on GraphicLeftovers.
Although if so much views and no sales are on the3Dstudio it is probably not very good sign too.

Thanks for clarifying. Our products get lots of views--in addition to customers they are viewed by other members checking out the new stuff, checking out the competition, etc. Since we only started with stock photos/images last summer we are still building the library but sales are increasing so we hope everyone sticks with us.

Stockastic was only quoting what I had posted. I am on the3dstudio and that was the view count on my portfolio with no sales. I wasn't referring to GraphicLeftovers, which was he thought. That was my mistake not his. I was under the wrong thread.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not replying sooner. I was out of town this past weekend for my birthday!

@jareso,

To answer you first, we just started accepting photos a few months ago and sales have slowly started to pick up in that area. We are still staying niche focused and do not accept photos requiring a model release since there aren't any other sites that focus on non-people related photography. We think that separates us a little bit from the other guys. As we start adding more and more photos to our website, I'm sure the sales will pick up more for you.

Also, I'm glad the discussion about the views / sales was cleared up! Our view count is accurate on our site also.

I did submit a couple dozen photos, and got a sale already, presumably from some one who saw it in the recent uploads.  Of course there's no guarantee I'll ever get another one, but at least that told me my images might be in an appropriate place.

I'm happy to be submitting to an agency that doesn't handle people shots, becuase I don't do any.  All I'm really interested in are object shots with (I hope) a bit of a arty quality to them, so if I can get any visibility in GL's vast sea of vectors, I mght make a few sales.
