hi,
i've just received this invitation to apply for photographer randomly from the internet , anyone heard of airbnb or anyone is part of their program  ? would that be a scam? they are not paying much but it seems to be able to cover up some of my investment expenses.

they seem pretty credible

Give it a go, as long as you don't give them any financial details what have you got to lose?

to be honest, the volume isn't too large, but it's a good part time revenue booster. flexible timing , on time payment , chances to meet new people. I've met with an ex-deputy minister in my country!

and KL means Kuala lumpur, I believe they have a photographer for a particular city.

cheer!

Hey Airbnb is growing and looking for more photographers , if you are keen, please PM me

To refer a photographer, please send the following information:

The photographer's name
E-mail address
Location
Portfolio link
Camera specs

I can refer you to airbnb and the rest is up to airbnb to decide.

This is how it works for me in kuala lumpur. jobs are usually done when listings assignment a posted on website. you'll accept it , arrange with host for photography, upload and get paid. so time is flexible.

Thanks!

Hi,

great!  There are no job link. You will have to submit through me. It's not a full time employment, just per assignment basis. thanks

I did and all I saw was discount travel packages and special's on lodging. No where did I see anything about photography.

Ah ok. yes it's lodging site where people can find accomondations throught the website. So Airbnb hires photographer to take photos of the listing.

Oh ok now I see...I don't live any where near big cities so it wouldn't do me much good. I would think they would only advertise for popular travel destinations.

Well.. you can still try it out if you are interested,  perhaps there are people looking to rent out at your area.

Distrustful as I am of someone I don't know asking me for any personal info and pointing me to a rather vague website of a company I've never heard of, I googled 'airbnb scam' - just in case there was something to worry about here.  I found this (among other negative comments):

http://gawker.com/5827043/sleazy-airbnb-is-very-sorry-for-wrecking-your-apartment

Be cautious here, it sounds possible that you could end up with permission to photograph an apartment, only to find later that the person giving permission was not the owner.

I'm a bit puzzled also that you have a personal invitation out of the blue from these people, but anyone else who wants to participate has to do so by giving their information to you.

thanks for posting that rubyroo...

yuliang11...even though you haven't had any problems with them and you choose to stay that's your choice, but for me personally I wouldn't have anything to do with them because of the apparent mistreatment  of their customer's and then bad mouthing them on a public forum. They have since apologized but probably only because she went public with it. That really says a lot about a way a business views their customers and mistreatment of them.

Yes, I just copy pasted the first sentence of that and it's been published in many places on the web.

"we’re still evolving"

Hmmm. That's a  generous way to put it. I prefer to do business with companies who do their research properly before they take people's money.

Not for me, thanks.

I'm no longer affiliated with Airbnb. Thus shall have no further comments on AirBNB.
