Do we have anyone from Chile in MSG?

The quake there was felt even in some areas of Brazil.  I saw a guy on TV talking through a webcam from Santiago, and he said there had been many other low-intensity aftershocks.

Following it on CNN.  Emphasis now is on Tsunami headed toward Hawaii.
Heard there were at least 33 aftershocks ... one at 6.3 on richter scale.

My brother who lives in the south said he was trying to sleep when he felt like if dizzy, the he noticed his bed was actually shaking slightly.  In the city he lives, some people left buildings because of the swinging lamps and doors.  In São Paulo, fire department received over 100 calls.  Quakes are not usual in Brazil, but my brother said he felt one 3 years ago too.  I wonder if it was felt here in Rio too.  I remember one quake (in Peru?) that was felt in some areas of Rio, but not in all.  I suppose it has to do with the kind of soil were your building sits.

Oh not again...I just heard. They said it was a 8.8 on the rector scale. It's the 5th worse earthquake since 1900. The biggest quake recorded since 1900 hit the coast of southern Chile on May 22, 1960. The 9.5-magnitude quake killed more than 1,600 and left about 2 million people homeless.

We had a rector at a preppy Jesuit high school, but his name wasn't father Richter.  Wink

I had a bowl of chili for dinner this evening __ I don't know if that counts? I'm feeling ok for now but there might be some 'aftershocks' tomorrow morning.

Don't worry, G.Walker B. never got nuclear right.  Wink
Actually it's Richter, Francis  Richter. The German word for judge. When the French try to pronounce the ch, your face is all wet.  Tongue
