No it's not a FOAF who says they got something free for forwarding this message to ten people. Big Company "X" isn't giving away free trips. No not the lottery or rich dead Uncle that you never knew you had (with a different name?). None of the open this infected zip file, to get your package receipt... something kind of new.

Two emails today, one from "Adobe" and one from "Skype". Quotes are because they were NOT. They came from [name]-2011-download.org with the company name in there. Trying to look official. I didn't download them, but I can promise that Adobe and Skype and who knows what others, do not send spam updates for 2011... Just in case you get these, you can delete them. Cheesy

Yeah, I got one of those this morning. Came from a RogerDubuis dot com. It was designed to look like it was about Microsoft:

First of all, I didn't subscribe to anything from MSN. Second of all, I NEVER click unsubscribe on these types of emails. Unsubscribe = millions more spam emails. They immediately go to junk and filtered.

Just remember that when you "unsubscribe", you are letting them know that your email account is alive and well!! Good point CC.

Agree with both. I just mark them as spam and delete. Stopped unsubscribing years ago. Theory is, if they are just fishing for live addresses, just what both of you said, then by unsubscribing you are sending a confirmation message and you'll get added to 1000 other lists!  Angry

Funny you should mention it CC I got the official Microsoft download message today. Like MS is going to write to me for some reason? Had it had the (c) in the middle of the name, which was supposed to make it look more official? In case anyone else is wondering. Microsoft updates, like Adobe and most others are automatic! In any case - They won't send you a link in an email...  Cheesy
