Topic: Is it real or is it Photoshop

So this has been making the rounds as a "real" photo. I first saw it on a Yahoo photo stream. What do people think? It looks so obviously fake to me, but maybe I should give it the benefit of the doubt? I'd love to see it at high res.

This is the description:

This adds a whole new dimension to bird engineering, because this eagle looks for all the world like it's jet-propelled - just look at those vapour trails streaking across the sky from the eagle's talons

Not quite, perhaps, but snapper Pam Mullins captured an extraordinary moment when aircraft were flying above the eagle, exactly in line with the trajectory of the bird's feet.

She said: 'The eagle was just gliding through the sky and I was panning with my camera trying to get a good shot.

'As I took the photo I just thought I had taken a normal picture. But when I looked back I realised how extraordinary it looked. I thought my photo had been ruined by the jet trails! I don't know if I would have been able to take the photo if I had tried.'

The shot of a lifetime was taken close to her home in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.

I don't think it's a fabulous photo to begin with, but I suppose if two plane contrails were positioned there, it's possible that it's real....

The lighting, the angle, and the head all look strange to me. And what is going on with the right foot? Can anyone determine what the angle of the sun is?

I think she might have used some sort of flash. speedlight maybe? I've read about on a few sites now, the Telegraph posted it in their pic of the day section. nothing to suggest it's fake to me but if she did photoshop it, it's still a boring picture. I'm sure she probably got a good laugh out of her inner circle.

Obviously this photo was taken with a flash - I read somewhere it was an Alienbees B500,000 as the eagle was still about 500 yards away.

Shot with a 1200mm lens and a 3x teleconverter.

Due to the lens distortion the wings of the plane behind the eagle are not visible.

No I didn't. It was actually shot hand held. There was no time for the photographer to set it up. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

And the con trails have chemicals in them that the aliens and the Govt. are using for mind control.

I guess if anyone believes the photo or any of the description, it explains much.

The national bird of Indonesia is the Eagle (Garuda) and the national airline carrier is named after the bird too. And the planes often plummet, similar to this eagle or overshoot their runways :-) I think they should change the name of the carrier to something like Swan Air.

Totally off topic, but I made the mistake of flying Garuda once. Never again.

It's real.... it's my domesticated eagle, but it's not in the sky, it's sliding on ice trying to to stop with its clws after my domesticated lynx roundhouse kicked it on the face fighting last  winter.

the description says right there that the contrails are from jets and not the eagle.  the photographer just claims that she happened to snap the shot of the eagle as it was just in the exact spot to make it look as if the contrails were coming from it, but to the trained eye the angles are obviously all wrong.  so it could be real in that she got it just at that point where the contrails appear to be coming from the eagle.

I looked at few contrails images and I'm missing the plane in this shot here.

Even if the eagle happened to be in this spot (being shot with a flash or under completely different lighting conditions) the plane or the wings/tips of the wings should be visible somewhere.

Fake...at this look of the jetstreams, the end/behind of the plane have to be seen between the feet of the eagle...

Shocking what people are willing to believe!  This obvious fake is taken on faith to be real, while OTOH there is a growing number of people who think the moon landing was faked.  I will never understand human nature!   Roll Eyes
