Water, my biggest fear! I feel for the guy. This would destroy my dreams unless of course I was smart enough to have insurance which of course I don't. Have to check into that.

It wasn't just one camera...he had two. I'd go into hibernation if I was him.

I accidentally left a compact flash card in my jeans pocket once.
The wife washed them. The CF card still works to this day!

Poor fellow. That had to hurt.

Worst scenario may be if he stab some stick from pool or other sharp corner from pool side in his kidney.
One time I felt from bike in park like plank on my back parallel with spine and when I see small pillar was near my kidney.

Saw this one the other day on facebook. It's either a staged video or the absolute worlds dumbest wedding photographer.  If you are shooting a wedding and are that oblivious to your surroundings inside the location you have severe memory loss, don't have a clue how to shoot a wedding or just plain stupid in general. There was also no need for a camera switch for the distance at the beginning .. does he know how to use a speedlight for an aisle walk? Don't look like it. and who in the world walks the entire aisle length backwards. My guess is it was another staged blooper vid but you never know the world has plenty of morons in it.

Agree. Either staged or big dude with bad memory. Also, usually in wedding photography you have an assistant to stand nearby in case of things like this to happen or just to help carry the equipment.
But I think either he has poor memory and not remember pool there or just dumb, funny dumb.
I think also with more expensive model of camera, no water damage this quick in and out, for top line model is
water sealed . too short time in pool to damage.

Except I am sure bride and groom freak out when they saw that. Arghhh, the father of the bride must want to
strangle the photographer. After getting photos, for sure will say bye bye no more call to you for my next
daughter's wedding, or everyone in church also say, "hey ho, no way we get this dude to shoot for wedding".

I close shop if I was that photographer or move to another town, ha!ha!

He was trying to "save" his camera... just in a different way. Holy Water to save its soul and rid it of those artifacting Demons. Canon, Be Healed!

It's either a staged video or the absolute worlds dumbest wedding photographer.

A lot of people can not afford a real wedding photographer and so hire someone who entitles himself as a wedding photographer, or a friend who has photography as a hobby (I was already asked to photograph a birthday).

Not that this can not be staged, though.

Not necessarily staged. Some people really are this stupid.

I'm not sure if this is real, the video looks a bit too steady.  Wouldn't they cover that pool during a wedding?  The reactions of the people don't seem quite right.  Is there a version with the real sound?  If it is staged, they did a good job, those cameras look expensive.

I'm sure it's not staged. The video is still because they hired someone to record wedding. And the guy is maybe stupid, but it's impolite to call someone stupid. Some of you who called him stupid are probably stupid too, because smart people don't throw accusations just like that. You probably think that you are smart (and maybe you are) but everyone thinks he is smart, right?
Some of you are probably ugly too, but no one is telling you that on the forum.

The guy fell down. It could happen to anyone. It happens even when you walk forward, on the street. Maybe he was distracted for a second and forgot about the pool. Maybe he is friend of a couple. Maybe he can't afford the assistant. Maybe he had a bad day. Maybe his child is sick and he thinks about it at the moment. And yes, maybe he is stupid, but non of us is competent to say that.
And for sure it's not funny.

My goal shooting weddings is to be as unobtrusive and as "invisible" as I can possibly be while still getting the shot.  I was horrified to see this guy walking down the aisle in front of them machine gunning his camera like that.  What a distraction.  It definitely sucks he fell in the water.  I hope his gear survived and if not that he had backup gear to shoot the reception.  There is a lesson in that video for us all..check your surroundings and have a plan!

one thing which doesn't convince me is that the photographer is perfectly in the centre of video, hiding the main subject

why doesn't the camera guy try to move a bit and shoot the couple instead of the photographer's back?

maybe because he is not a pro. Maybe he is just a friend too.
Staged video could also be done from any other angle.

I think it was staged. Wouldn't you think the video guy would have warned the stills guy? I would sure hope so. That guy could have been fatally wounded, as in hitting his head on the fountain when he fell.

Not to say that this couldn't happen in real life, though. If there wasn't someone there to warn him.
