hey guys,
for those of you working with panthermedia, it seems that the german agency has signed an agreement with agefotostock to market its images through the new easyfotostock (i.e. a subsidiary of agefotostock)

Panthermedia has so many partnerships that maybe this new partnership is not too unusal to let their contributers know. unless agefotostock is a way more profitable partnership. Does anyone knows anything about agefotostock?

That might explain why I just found one of my images there, to my surprise. I hate when this crap happens, unannounced. Like someone went and robbed my warehouse and began selling it in their store. Who knows how many times this could be happening, whether its to our knowledge or not. The power of the internet.

There is little ambiguity. You agree to opt-in to Panther's distribution program, or not. If you are opted-in, they actively pursue new sales channels in order to increase your sales, this could hardly be a vague situation?

Edit: It might help you rest easy that Panther is not shipping out CD's with your source photos willy-nilly all over the world: the distribution method is fully secure and your original images are accessed only at the point of sale directly from Panther's system.

If it gets me more sales I think the partnering thing is great

but being "naturally inquisitive" (read nosey bugger) I'd like to know which partners. I dont think it would be too much work for an agency to list somewhere in the submitters areas this the list of partners do you want to opt in? then we could say hey agency xyz is great and really doing things because they have 3.14159 partners etc. Or is there some reason for keeping it secret?

What's so unreasonable about this? Why not a comphrehensive list? Why not the ability to have this list easily accessible to all contributors and offer the ability to opt in or out on all or a la carte? I wish I had the opportunity to pick and choose looking at some of the sites my stuff has been fed to. Sites that if they were listed at opt time... I just might have said 'no'.
All or nothing is the only option? And just because I opted in on what was offered at the time I opted in.... how's it okay for the agency to add on 'partners' and not advise the contributor that her/his work is now also going outbound once again? From a couple of the threads active right now, it seems there's a heckuva lotta photogs being 'surprised' by where they are finding their work.... unbeknownst to them... how it got there.

Kind of blank check isnt it? If you say yes once, we can do whatever we want to do? Maybe I'm missing something......I dont see this as a good business practice... ? Cool

Thats exactly what I am talking about for agencies and it is great to see. About 80-odd partners, certainly an impressive list on behalf of panthermedia (more impressive than pi - oh I have been too much math lately when pi is the first number you think of

)

its interesting the various agencies, a mix of macro, micro, mid and those that do the lot

So did I, apologies to ZYMM.... this is what I'm talkin about...
Now... if I were to app at Panther... I know exactly what I'm getting into and I can make my choice yes or no. I think what others are reffering to is partners being added after the fact and a lack of communication to the contributors and an inability to defer.
But... such is the nature of the beast and if we want to play, I suppose we have to keep in mind, it's their football. We make our choices and we move forward. Cool

Stockxpert did it right - they told us where they were going to distribute to. So did iStock, even Canstock. I don't mind opting into any distribution plans, because the more places you can sell your apples, the more money you make. Still, it's just a little shocking to find some random agency online somewhere and find your images in use. It is highly commendable when at least image sales are reported at the original agency as distribution sales. That's very much appreciated. At least that way we know where the sales are coming from - the original agency, or the distribution channel.

Thanks, Andy... Panther seems to be lightyears ahead of other agencies in the communications area!!
I think I am going to try to submit to Panther, hopefully, you (panther) may find some of my images of value, possibly able to have a sales niche there. I am primarily landscape/travel. We'll see, and if not, understandable.

As I live in Denmark, I just picked one of the danish partners (Creas). They are offering 6 months of what seems to be unlimited RF images for 2990 DKK, which translates into just $570. How can this be profitable to the contributor ? I don't get how these partnership contracts work

There might be a misperception on your side.

Currently Creas is selling single images from PantherMedia.

The images you refer to which are sold in the Creas subscription you mentioned are not coming from PantherMedia.

Probably an unfair question, but is there any way to figure out which of these partners are picking up the Editorial images? I can see that most are handling the RF.
