Title: Panthermedia Commission
Post by: oboy on September 08, 2009, 08:08
Panthermedia has low prices now too. Would it be then ok to mark all images with 50% commission?

Any updates on when the new system will come?
It is around the corner, in the final testing phase.
Andy

That message was posted on August 10.

So what I derive is: "soon" is (at least a month) better than "around the corner". ;D
No idea though what that means in absolute terms (days? weeks? months?). ???

Btw Andy, any comment to the TO's question? Now that your pricing model moves more and more towards those of other microstock sites, when will we be back to a 50% commission?

Thatīs right, August 10th. Today is Sept. 9th. And thatīs because simultaneously to working on the new upload tool:

-we are introducing the new subscriptions for web- and print usage these days (http://bit.ly/15Uqct (http://bit.ly/15Uqct)), as you may know from our recent newsletter.

-we are expanding our business to Poland with a dedicated team these days (http://bit.ly/1q44ww (http://bit.ly/1q44ww)), as you may know from our recent newsletter (http://bit.ly/mqZce (http://bit.ly/mqZce)).

Both facts are mentioned on our Twitter page (http://twitter.com/panthermedia (http://twitter.com/panthermedia)) so itīs easy to recognize that we have a lot of things going on besides - and itīs indeed around the corner and very, very important - the final testing of the new upload tool.

For the time being our current commission structure remains valid (http://bit.ly/ka4sa (http://bit.ly/ka4sa)). However, adjustments can always occur. Actually, Dirk, I think you forget that you always get 50% commission with our subscription.

Oboy, this is not entirely correct if you look at some of our single image prices, esp. High Res files. Before you mark your images for 50% commission, please read the first paragraph here, http://bit.ly/ka4sa. (http://bit.ly/ka4sa.)

Let me know if you have further questions,

That one sentence (emphasis by me) leaves a little hope for change to the better...
I know that you're paying 50% for subs, but I'd like to see that for all sales.
Especially as you are undercutting your "target price" (the one for dividing the world in "cheap" angencies and "ok" agencies, a single sale DIN A4 size) by several of your newly introduced features - not only subs, but also credit packages and now the latest move to Poland, where all prices are cheaper.

It just looks a bit strange, when you punish your contributors by lowering their share from 50% to 30% if they offer their work cheaper, but you do just that - and in case of e.g. the offering in Poland you don't even give them a chance to opt out.

The fact is, PM makes me far less money than all of my other agencies, including 123rf which is my rock bottom. I don't see why we don't claim 50%.

PM is starting with an image price of 0.20. You can use 50% if you are selling only with PM or other agencies with the same price or more. Now without looking it up, I don't know who is selling it for less. And even if there is someone that is selling it for 0.15, then I still think that this is all in the same price range.
