Thanks Luis, Hope a few others will throw their 2 cents in.  But for now, maybe I have my first 1 for the next submission.

Won't they say that the white balance is incorrect? I'm not 100% sure that I get it from iStock, but quite often I get a rejection on what I think is a nice late afternoon shot because of the white balance. Having said that, what is actually interesting about the image - how would it be used? Does "344" mean something?

IMO, I would stay away from shots that most of the photographers have access to in the first place.

My understanding of the initial 3 images is to be "different", unique AND creative. If it has to be a shot of a traffic sign chose a different angle or do something creative in post processing. This image doesn't show skills.

White balance could also be an issue.

Put the sign in context to its proper meaning like here:

Your image is a traffic sign showing a mountain in the background. This might work if the sign shows "curves ahead" or a warning sign for "wildlife crossing" something like that.

I hope this makes sense.

I was kind of going for this sort of thing.

I don't know the type of sign you were shooting but the example that you mentioned displays an Interstate highway sign.

Just the sign alone (Interstate highway sign) is a very common concept.

Also the fact that it say "New Mexico" and the somewhat deserted landscape goes together and connects the sign with the rest of the image.

The type of sign in your shot is unknown to me. Maybe where you are from it is an important or major traffic sign then it might have more commercial value but hey, what do I know?
