Title: Mystery Payout
Post by: dpimborough on July 17, 2017, 04:11
Had a notification via Paypal for a payout from Envato.

No idea what it's for but it was a reasonable amount round $100

Anyone else get one of these?

And no I did not request a payout of earnings as I'm no where near the $50 limit

I did once get a "sale" for about $50 I couldn't find which pic. I didn't ask as I was scared it was some kind of error  :o.

Where did you find that? For the life of me I can't find that page Elements just shows some photos and nothing else for me.

The reason for the bonus was in the email link. It said that the money from unused downloads was distributed evenly among the contributors. Nice to see them looking out for the remaining contributors.

The email from James arrived much later after the cash went thru Paypal

For some reason, the page on that link will not open for me. It's just loading endlessly. I use google chrome.

If I login here https://elements-contributors.envato.com/ and then go Earnings report on the top right corner nothjing happens. And all other links are dead too, for example payout method...

And if I put the link https://elements-contributors.envato.com/account/earnings/2017-05 directly into my browser, I'm getting thrown to contributor agreement. This site is completely broken.
Title: Re: Mystery Payout
Post by: Dumc on July 19, 2017, 13:04
Ok, I've solved it. I had to accept agreement and now everything is working great. I also had contributor bonus, ~99$

Hey All.

Yep! For those photographers who haven't signed into the Elements app yet, you need to accept the agreement before you can see your earnings report.

For those that got unrequested earnings, Elements pays out automatically. You do not need to request a payout as you do with PhotoDune.

If you're a photos author on Elements and you haven't yet signed in and updated your payment details, you won't receive your payout this month. You can however, update your payout settings in the contributor app and you'll get this month and next month's earnings together on your next payout.

Also, don't forget to double check that you have all the proper tax forms in place so you don't have any unnecessary withholdings.

Have a great day!

My tax form in Photodune is up to date, but in Elements i can't find tax section. Do i have to fill second tax form for Elements? I have incorrect tax withheld of 30% instead of 5% in Elements...

It's not incorrect, envato is australian based, so 30% is probably right amount. I checked yesterday. I'm also paying 30% at Canva, which is also *.au based.

As far as payments go, they are US based. It's the IRS that insists on withholding taxes. If you have a 5% treaty, you should only get 5% withheld.

According to this help page, Elements is Australia based for payments.

https://help.contributors.elements.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/229335967-Why-has-tax-been-withheld-from-my-earnings- (https://help.contributors.elements.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/229335967-Why-has-tax-been-withheld-from-my-earnings-)

The payment comes through as Envato USA Inc, which is the same as PhotoDune.

I'm in the USA
I have 0% withheld on PhotoDune
I have 5% withheld on Elements
I have 10% withheld on Canva

I'm confused.

A quick search on Google did turn up this page though:

**AHEM**

Feel free to shout that from the rooftops (or monthly earning polls from certain third-party forums). We're not opposed to photographers letting others know that their earnings are growing with Elements and PhotoDune.  ;-)

Seriously though, super excited to see that things are working out well and your earnings are growing. I am curious how this might impact your plans for future uploading/publishing. Does more earnings change how often and how many items you upload? What impact does tooling play in this?

I'm also curious to know what, if anything we can do to help you understand our content requirements and subject matter needs. We're hoping to ramp up what you get from our team in the way of feedback and input so, happy to hear what format is best for you.

James

It would help if your reviewers didn't arbitarily just reject everything and then if you did how about showing the rejections somewhere?

So at least we would know if an image is rejected?

The elements pages don't work you can't upload anything directly.

There's no way to download earnings reports for elements.

The whole site is just a mess

This hopping between Photodune and elements is a real pain.

Yeah right...

I see the Elements offerings are suffering from an over stuffing of similars from their pet authors.

Try and follow their airy fairy ideas on what they want but some contributors are being allowed to dump dozens of poor quality similars and the annoying thing is they are obviously being accepted.

I checked with a buyer in the US and they said the quality was very poor on a lot of searches.

So what gives James? Do you guys really know what you want?

Did you actually went to the main page? I haven't received any e-mail yet, but clicked on the link for June earnings in my e-mail and it showed my July earnings.

I have about 75 files and I've earned more than 123rf, DT, and Bigstock combined, where I have 1100+ files.

Oh yes, now I see it, thanks ;).

I also received $120 bonus. Does everyone gets the same bonus regardless the number of images in portfolio or the number of sales ?

By the way, shouldn't we receive the report for August ? We have middle September and just only received the report for July....

Well to be fair, you're not exactly taking the high road by saying "I didn't get booted out they kept me, so up yours" and "And I have fewer images than you but made more money LOL  ;D"

And he has a point... you don't know how much money he makes there, so how can you say that you make more money than him? Did I miss a post where he stated sales earnings, other than the $120 bonus?

Actually he started with "yeah right" basically calling me a liar which I don't like beeing called, because it's not in my nature to make things up, like some people tend to do here.

Anyway, even higher bonus then previus month, but slightly less earnings from photos, overall earnings a few cents higher than in July. Go Envato!

"Yeah right" does not imply in anyway you are a liar Slovenian dude; yeah nah

My orignal post was concerned with Envatos double standards on image acceptance

In my part of the world "yeah right" was more to do with your "Go Envato!" comment and the fact that (as I commented) Envato don't appear to applying any logical standards to image curation.

But if you feel "butt hurt" I suggest you go lie down in a dark room for a little while

Does anyone know how to download a full report from Elements? I just got my 1099 but it is for the whole tamale of sales, not just what I earned.  Now I have to go dissect everything to get my tax guy a realistic net income number. I have the CVS file from Photodune, just not from Elements and I cannot find any downloadable link nor do they split out anything on their earnings report in Elements.

Also if anyone in the USA has received a 1099 from Envants it looks like it is combined with NET Elements and GROSS Photodune.  Very poor tax reporting structure.

This is amazing! When I accepted the terms for Envato Elements I incorrectly assumed it was another one of those (this is good for you but not really good for you) deals like other stock agencies pass along. Because of this I just assumed I'd be making pennies. I signed up and forgot about it, and continued on my merry way only uploading new content to my top three earners. Last night after receiving an email from Envato I was like "oh yeah, I signed up for that, I should see if I sold anything" I was expecting to see an account with perhaps $10 or so. Oh was I wrong! Envato Elements somehow since July has become my top earner! Thank you thank you thank you for treating contributors the way you are! Thank you for realizing my hard work is worth something! I will be uploading new content to your agency first.

Hey Mantis! The methodology behind the calculations are prescribed by the IRS, it's not something that Envato has decided to do. If you're looking for more detailed calculations you can send an email to [email protected] with your username and they can send you the workings/detailed calculations for your review.

Hope that helps!
