Title: Photoshop CS5 - Launching April 12
Post by: leaf on March 24, 2010, 09:08
For those who are eagerly waiting the next release of Photoshop, it is coming soon.  April 12 to be exact.

There will be a public online release at Adobe (http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-1-10766186) <- yes that is a referral link ... you'll have to do a search for it yourself if you don't want to be referred :)

I am looking forward to seeing what is new.

nice.  They don't specifically say that it will be included in CS5 though so I'm not holding my breath - but here's hoping.

Geez Louise, I'm always a version or 2 behind. I remember how excited I was when version 2 was announced because it had something new in it called "paths." Then version 3 came out with layers - I was in heaven!

I am still with the dinausor Photoshop 6.0 released in 2000. I have tried several time CS2, CS3 and CS4. I didn't found any reason of upgrading. The only difference is, if I photoshop for one hour with 6.0, I may photoshop for 55 minutes with CS4.

I think most of the upgrades are enough minor to be absurd compared to the price.

I only know that all non par or odd number versions from Adobe pack are too buggy like they wrote software for the first time.
eg. Illustrator 5, 7, 9, cs1 and cs 3
also photoshop 5  (5.5 version is OK), 7, 9 and CS 1 (I don try CS3 but I think it was screwed to because CS4 is for now)
From this validity and if I buy new Mac (it only depends if my old will bee dead) I will wait CS 6 version.
For now CS2 is OK.

+1 - unless you're Yuri Arcurs and some others, it makes no business sense to buy a software package of that price (almost double in the EU) when photos are valued ) 0.25$. CS2 will do.

I bought CS4 so I could see my RAW files from the 5d2.  It's a good scam for them.

What Sean said :)  I wanted to be able to open the .cr2 files my 5d2 produces.

I also had to buy CS4 to see the RAW files from my D3X. But no new camera now, so staying with CS4

Ditto, I wonder if there's a new 5d3 on the horizon, it's spooky how Adobe mange to release a new version of PS just before a new camera that everybody wants comes out.

There's always the DNG converter for those that don't want to upgrade and don't mind waiting for the conversion. It's even free!

Maybe I am alone, but I hate when a new version of Photoshop comes out because they immediately stop supporting the last edition.

I own CS4 but found the new interface a bit clunky and for some reason it runs slower than prior versons on my computer, so I am still using CS3.

It bugs me that I can't see my 5DII files in CS3, but I use Lightroom for raw processing anyway, and export them as TIFs, which can be seen in any version of photoshop.

I use the DPP of Canon that came with the 5DII. The only issue is that you will have a slowdown in your workflow passing by a TIF file on disk.
I have CS2 and that's fine for me.
