You might have a look at this Plug-in for it. Looks promising.

http://www.picniche.com/

This is my first post here so I figured I would add something hopefully useful instead of just hi.

Yes, I downloaded it but just got to play and configure it out.  ;)

I had it. Found it a useless gadget that slows my PC down, especially on Asian band-narrowness. The only plugins I use are xmarks and adblock, and of course the Youtube downloader. Couldn't miss the adblock, in which you can also block the slideshows on microstock sites landing pages and all flash content which slows down all terribly.

So far its working fine for me. I did have a little trouble getting it to log me into fotolia but I finally got it. The rest logged in fine. Right now it's just as useful as my bookmarks. Got to take some shots and try out the keywording and uploading part to see if it really useful and stays on my computer.

Is it safe? I mean, safe for our passwords.. I guess it is because they are stored in FF and they are not sent to some other place

This is my second day using it, I really like it. I just wish I could track more sites with it.

I'm also wondering how safe it is. Perhaps we could monitor the network traffic while it's running to see which sites it is trying to contact. OK, this is engineer speaking out of me :D

As far as I know PicNiche does ask the FF Password Manager to open a session and take care of the authentication itself.

The passwords are stored safely in FF Password Manager NOT in the toolbar somewhere.

Yes, but it could also send saved passwords to someone. So, it should be tested offline which sites it's trying to contact. I trust to goldenangel because he works in one of the biggest companies that test networking hardware, and he is writing and testing drivers for devices.
I like Picniche, but I would like to be sure is it safe.

Yea, I wish you could customize or add sites to it.

As far as passwords, I didn't even think of that. Guess I just trusted Mozilla with them putting it up.

When you install it, Mozilla says this:
"Only install sdd-ons from authors you trust.
Malicious software can damage your computer or violate your privacy

Microstock Image-Contributor Toolbar (picNiche) (Author not verified)"

Which means, Mozilla didn't check the author, and you are responsible if something happens to your privacy.
It's a cool tool, but I will wait for goldenangel to check it....  ;)

Hey Guys

Glad you like the tool. :)

The agency passwords are stored securely in the firefox system and are never used or sent anywhere other than to login to the corresponding agency website (or ftp).

The source-code is readable by anyone knowledgeable in javascript (as the firefox platform has an open-codebase) so anyone can review the code (secureaccess.js is relevant file).

Although my toolbars have not completed the full peer-review yet (though hopefully soon) they would be quickly removed if any of the Mozilla developers were informed, and subsequently confirmed that the secure password system was being abused in any way.

Bob, thanks for sharing this information with us! That's the beauty of open source, being able to trust sensitive pieces of code. Could you provide us with the link to these files? I'm not sure where to look for the file you mentioned. Is this part of Mozilla source code tree or part of your add-on?
THanks!

It's in the addon (All mozilla addons are distributed as a zip file containing the .js Javascript and XUL files which make up the functionality.
Simply download the addon from Mozilla site, unzip as though it were a zip file and peruse to your hearts content :) There are lots of tutorials to understand how it's all constructed inside but it's pretty straightforward just to dig around. :)

Brilliant work, thanks!  ;)

As a suggestion: would be nice to have a button to erase the notifications at any moment.

Thanks Bob, I did look into the code. Very nice! For others I should say that it looks safe to me to use it as it does not seem to send our login information anywhere but to the supported microstock sites.

Bob, you have already said that some links in the toolbar lead to your referral pages and I think that's absolutely fair. I installed it as well and I was pleased with how it works. Thank you for providing us with this tool!

some feature request if you don't mind, bobbigmac  :)

- option to activate / deactivate one click erase of notification list
- keep the notifications list content per day, reset it the next day not every time you start the browser. Maybe even make somewhere a label with the total on all sites for that day, in $ and maybe in download number.

Cheers.

another suggestion.

Perhaps you could have the little image icons for the sites instead of the FT SS IS etc.  I think the images plus amounts would increase readability.  It gets hard to read quickly when you see IS 124 SS 230 BS 55 etc... or here compare the two

124.15 230.23 55.10 150.23
IS: 124.15 SS: 230.23 BS: 55.10 DT: 150.23

Thanks for the suggestions guys :) Not sure I'll be able to do these for a while, but I'll keep them on the list :)

As far as I'm concerned, all advanced Earnings stats are Lookstat's domain, Rahul does this stuff a lot better than my toolbar format can, although thankfully there's the possibility of linking out to those in future :)
For the clear-all of notifications list, I'll add this in a future update :)

This one comes down a minor legal issue, as each agency has rights on it's own logo, I cannot currently include them in my own software or hotlink to them without agreement from each agency. And as I'm trying to go with an all-included approach, there are still some bits to be worked out :) Is definitely on my list tho soon as all the agencies are ready to talk :)

Cheers, keep 'em coming please :D

hello:
I have just instaled this plugin and i like it a lot, looks very helpfull to me.

Im finding two problems right now:
first it cant log in to SS, but i guess this is due to their recently gotcha thing isnt it? Is it any way to over pass this?
Second, i get no response from IS, although i ahave installed the latest version (1.0.16) it sais IS:null, so i guess it CAN actually login as i didnt get an error like with SS, but it doesnt get any information from IS.

Any guess what could be happening?
