Topic: Zazzle address labels

I've started designing some address labels in Zazzle, and I have a question regarding how people use them.

The smaller size (2.25in x 0.75in) is for return address - ok, I've used that too.

The medium size (2.375in x 1.25in) is also used for return addresses, but also for to/from label for gifts.

The large size (3.75in x 2in) is used for what?  They call it "shipping labels" and that name makes sense when you print labels from Word, each label with a different recipient (like a guest list), but in Zazzle they have to be all the same, so if used for addresses, it must be return addresses, but it looks too big for that purpose (especially for you guys who put the recipient and the return address on the same side of the envelope).  And for to/from stickers, as I saw some examples at Zazzle, this looks big to me.

What do people use the large size for?

Those are shipping labels. Let's say I want to mail a package out. Typically I would have those labels preprinted with MY information on them...company name, address, city state and zip, country, logo, etc. That would be toward the top of the label. Then say the bottom half to 2/3s of the label would be blank, so I could hand write the recipient of the package's name in, or run it through my printer and print the address in there. Are the labels 1 up or 4 up? Because I think 1 up labels would be too small to feed through an inkjet printer, typically the smallest size is 4x6. Mostly when you buy them from Avery Labels, they are 4 up.

So I think the person would have to be able to customize the type, but you could use your art/image on there. I hope this helps.

Hmm, this makes design very different from the other two labels!

Yes, the design would be different than smaller return address labels. Let me go over to zazzle and see exactly which labels you are talking about. Be right back.

OK, it's as I thought. Here is a sample (you've probably already seen this):

But this is confusing because they have logo in the left from the Seahorn company and then the recipients name and address at the Seahorn company. Typically, the company logo would be where the Seahorn logo is and then to the right, the company's address, etc. Below the line would be blank and that is where your customer would personalize them with their clients' addresses on their own computer.

So for instance you would put your photo of your stethoscope in the upper left and put sample type to the right, of which the Dr. could customize it for themselves with their practice name and address. Then your Dr. customer would order however many sheets they need, 8 up. Then they would take those sheets and run them through their laser/inkjet and print whatever the address of the person they are sending something to in the blank space.

Cathy,

Thanks for your time checking Zazzle, but as you can see their example was one of a company using the label only for their address.  I suppose they might use it at the corner of the package, since there is often a lot of room available, unlike in enevlopes.  I saw exmaples of designs using that size for to/from labels, but that looks exagerate.  I will focus on business buyers then, that makes more sense.

Yes, I suppose you are right, that sample could be correct, and the whole big label be used as a package return address label but I have always used them as I suggested. Maybe you could offer them both ways?
